You seem to have blundered into a causality misalignment zone.
As did Papa John

Schnatter was simply told by his board of directors to STFU and keep politics away from their corporate name. Schnatter had no reason to make the statement and no data to back it up. Q3 results had just been published and Papa John did just fine. There was lower revenue in their US franchises, but against higher sales. That doesn't say anything to hurting shareholders who received dividends slightly above expectations.

No, he used the conversation as an excuse to state a political opinion. I doubt the franchise owner in San Francisco or in Cambridge(MA) appreciated having their brand associated with his sentiments. The board essentially just gave him a What Were You Thinking Pink Slip.

Which is exactly what I was thinking. He found out that he can't run the company as a sole owner--he has stockholderes who have a say in things...

But I will have to correct myself. There's no record of the board doing anything. This is being played as him removing himself from the CEO position because he thinks a new CEO (old COO) will be best for the company. He's still going to be Chairman of the Board.

Is this the same guy who was howling about how awful it'd be to pay and extra quarter so that all the people at Papa Johns' could get health care access? I remember that I completely stopped eating any of their food around then - I mean, if you're going tell me to my face that the people handling the food from your company might be sick, then I'd be a fool to actually eat there.

Yeah, that's going to be big.

I think with all the other BREAKING NEWS today this one almost slipped by.
It's the most blatantly racist thing I've seen so far.

Good for him. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I think represents the fundamental values of this nation more than the NFL players kneeling during the anthem. They not only have a right to kneel in protest, they have a duty to stand or kneel to tell our leaders their grievances.

Since when did a piece of cloth or a song become more important than principles?

She just made a mistake. She meant to write "people" instead of "baboons". She hasn't got a racist bone in her body. She's got baboon friends. It's just that "people" and "baboons" are so similar that it's easy to type one when you mean the other.

Dear facebook users throughout the World,

Unless you're Donald Trump, please make another "fake" account when spouting "controversial" views that, to you, seemed like a good idea at the time. And never PWD.

So, do you think black people look like baboons? If not, why do you think it is racist? There are white baboons. Is it racist to call me a baboon?

Because Carla Maloney referred to the kneeling NFLers as "ignorant blacks" and wrote "Let's see how the baboons get paid when white people stop paying their salaries."

That's why it's racist.

As Jemelle Hill points out, Kaepernick's jersey is still popular even though he isn't on a team. Nike's getting some pretty good marketing out of this, Kaepernick gets some publicity for the issues he's been supporting, so it's likely a win-win.

Then there is the whole history of relating blacks to monkeys.

I mean seriously, logger's left-behinds on this forum must be either disingenuous, or oblivious to any history not spoon-fed to them from Breitbart or Fox.

I hope Kaepernick makes a killing. Even though he played for my teams arch-rival. No one in the NFL has been treated more unfairly. The guy deserves a job.

Well there was this bit as well:

"Let’s see how the baboons get paid when white people stop paying their salaries.”

ETA: Beaten to it, but yes, this does to me underscore the racism.

You seriously don't believe those are racist words?

I can't remember which team it was but they offered him a spot if he agreed to never kneel. Which Colin wouldn't do, nor should he. Pay no attention to Bob, no sense in getting bobbed again.

Nevermind, that's not even true. Bob is running on outdated and inaccurate information. Apparently it's not cool to research before or after making comments.

Of course.....Bob is Bob.

I remember when Kap came to Seattle. I thought Seattle was going to sign him. I think they still should. But I'm convinced the league has him blackballed.
