It's worth pointing out who this pronoun refers to: the head of the executive branch of government.

Unreal. The Republicans who stood silently by while this has gone on are going to rue the day.

Do not be too sure. The fact is that we thought this long before the election, and aside from the rule of law and basic decency, things haven't changed all that much. I say this as one that hates what Trump has done to basic decency. Aside from that, I have to admit, surprisingly little.

It's made things worse in terms of collaboration, but they were already terrible. Trump is just another minor step (remember the original nuclear option came from the Dems, and was a poor decisiion). We're screwed, no doubt, but we were somewhat screwed before Trump. Pretty screwed, really.

I'm not a fan of partisan politics, though I do blame McConnell's brand of partisanship more than the Dems.

There's the old saying, hindsight is 20/20. I believe that with hindsight a lot of people who should be ashamed now (but aren't for some reason), aren't going to be able to avoid it when this is all said and done. Some people are without shame, but that's a tiny amount of people (I hope).

So does Trump's tweet blasting Jeff Sessions for indicting 2 Republicans so close to the election look at all like attempted obstruction of justice?

Body of work?

Per Giuliani it's not a conspiracy if it's highly publicized, so maybe not.

Oddly enough he and Dems did a deal to get some of Trump's appointees through the process. Not sure what was in it for the Dems.

From the article;

It also comes days after Giuliani told the Daily Beast that Trump's legal team is almost finished with a “voluminous” report aimed at discrediting Mueller.

This means that the Trump Administration is going to try to use the power of the Executive branch to try to stifle release of a Mueller report while releasing a report of their own which purportedly "debunks" Mueller's, and was compiled before the Mueller report was even released?

Sounds about right for the Trump crowd.

This is doubtful:
Giuliani told The New Yorker that Trump's original legal counsel struck a deal with the special counsel reserving the White House the right to object to the public disclosure of information covered by executive privilege.
Unless "information covered by executive privilege" was narrowly defined.

This I believe:
He also told the magazine that the Trump team is planning to release a report of its own to refute Mueller's findings.
The article says they are getting close to releasing the real 'fake' report.

"Discrediting".

That's so adorably retro, trying to hit rewind on the current post-truth political climate of alternative facts and a Qanon analyst in the WH.

The question is, will the country really allow democracy to die. It's hard to say. But if Trump does something like that there will be people in the streets.

Trump must be getting more and more nervous about what Mueller knows.

One has to hope, though, that there is a Mark Felt (Deep Throat) in that special prosecutor office.

It's all ok. "Economy", and "Judges", and "Policies".

I agree. If Trump tries to keep the report from being made public, there will be rioting in the streets. But don't be surprised if his base defends it. After all, there are many reasons an innocent Trump would not want it made public just like his tax returns not being made public had a valid reason: he was being audited. And still is two years later.

Yes, your country could quite easily let democracy die there.. The events of the past 3 years provide adequate evidence of that. Your system of government is not set up to prevent it from happening. It permits one man to hold too much power..

I do not foresee "rioting in the streets" in the USA over any political acts/decisions by Trump and his cronies. You will continue to let him do as he pleases and do nothing more than moan about it on the internet. The only thing that will get enough of you off your butts is nationwide economic problems that seriously impact most personal incomes.

Apparently you did not see the massive demonstrations that followed Trump's election and inauguration. Those will be nothing compared to what will happen if Trump tries to keep the Mueller report from being released.

It will be made public if the house flips. That is a guarantee. Executive Privilege does not extend to the Justice Department.

The only check Trump will have on him is if the House does flip. The GOP Congress certainly isn't willing to stand up to him.
