What was the point to what they did release? That she substitute-taught at a Saudi school? That's what they're using to smear a career public servant?

I think you mean "figuratively," not literally.

Can you show me the evidence that she applied to the Post Office and the CIA at the same time? It's possible, but I'm not sure where you are going with that. In college I took a federal civil-service exam to see where I might fit in. Only the IRS was interviewing, but if other agencies had shown an interest I would have applied there as well.

Wait, your tale of applying really causes me to rethink my position. Perhaps when people apply to the USPS, the CIA retroactively assigns the person a covert school teacher position that she had before she applied!

The darn PAC exposed the CIA’s ability to travel in time!

Hi! I did post links, there are links in this thread, you have seen them, yet you are polluting this thread with what you admit is uninformaed speculation.

I ain’t gonna kid you, this has been a total bloodbath for anyone who is trying to make hay against the pac out of the USPS’s **** up.

Dream thread
I don't really care what the PAC did. I'm curious how you came to the conclusion that she applied to the post office at the same time she applied to the CIA. If someone with a knack for languages turns up at the CIA wanting to fight terrorism in 2002, do you figure they just told her to look them up in 4 years? I think they kept her on the radar, which is what the Richmond article says. At the post office, she monitored possible terrorist threats. Why does it seem so bizarre to you that her teaching post was connected to the CIA's interest in her? I find it plausible.

But you will not tell me, or show me, why you think she applied to the CIA and the Postal Service at the same time.

My reading of the links does not support your claims, but I could easily have missed something.

So instead of ridiculing me do you think you could answer the question?

Why are you so convinced she applied to the CIA and the Postal Service at the same time?

ETA: I think assigning a budding operative to work in a school would be a really smart move, actually. She was probably pretty good at the job. This isn't aimed at you The Big Dog, this is just thinking aloud about the possible tradecraft involved.

Because she said so obviously.

Gotta ask if you read even the links supplied by anyone at all?

The details of her career are irrelevant. The point is that we shouldn't know them. The SF86 document, filed by many thousands of federal job applicants, is confidential and should not have been made public. Interestingly, the Post Office itself says it has received and has mishandled similar requests about other people.
“We are continuing our review, but believe the issue began in June of 2018, and that only a small number of additional requests for information from personnel files were improperly processed,” Mr. Partenheimer said.

Ms. Spanberger on Maddow tonight said that her campaign requested a copy of her own records months ago as part of her preparation, and she hasn't received it yet. But a FOIA request by Repub oppo researchers about the Democratic candidate in a tight Congressional race got an immediate response, including information that should never have been released, and which has subsequently been distributed by Paul Ryan's PAC.

You think it's all just coincidence?

She said that she filled out the applications at the same time - not that they were submitted at the same time.

I'm not sure why it matters to you so much that people on this thread have speculated that the substitute teacher gig was related to the CIA offer. Maybe the CIA was evaluating her ability to form relationships within the Muslim/Saudi community. Or maybe not. I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. Lots of coincidences there, though.

Uh no, the USPS did. The PAC did not publish the sensitive parts that would have been redacted.

They sound like heroes here.

No.
The USPS gave the file to the PAC.
The PAC called up its favorite reporters and leaked it to them.

Your heroes sifted through the file to pass on juicy secrets that they must have know they were not supposed to have, let alone make public.

If the teaching gig was connected to her CIA offer, I doubt the CIA would confirm that.

Maybe those moles Trump planted are beginning to pay off.

They redacted her Social Security number but felt fine releasing her security questionnaire and conducting a push poll implying she had ties to terrorists.

Heroes

I'm linking the photo of the application for USPS. (If anyone has the rest of the documents, perhaps the date of application is available. It doesnt state the present date in this photo)

She states she worked for the Islamic school "12/02 - Present"

If the CIA offered her a conditional offer in 2002 and she spent some time actually teaching at the school from December of 2002, then the applications could not happen at the same time.

It's likely that the GOP simply didn't think it through and trusted the FOIA checks. If they knew, then they would also have known how much that kind of attack could backfire.

That timeline is very helpful.

I hope the Dems have just as many tricks up their sleeves (or more) because Trump et al. are pulling out all the stops to keep control of the House. I don't want Dems to break the law but I hope they pursue all legal means of countering what the Repugs are doing.

Do you mean you don't think the GOP knew the SF86 was not meant for public consumption? And now the GOP is trying to smear her by releasing sensitive information about a prior job which obviously had CIA support? Sounds about right.

Chuck Todd has said he's not missing work on Friday - he's expecting fireworks to quote one rag.

Makes sense.... long weekend, end of the summer,... they love doing stuff in Washington on a Friday night. There may be some overlap into the White House Survivor thread, but he's got lots of theatrical options not involving firing people.

> Sees his shadow, so we expect eight more weeks of lies.
> Talks about his great election victory.
