What for? I'm sure when they invest it comes with a piece of paper stating this is an unproven technology and success is not guaranteed.
True to a point. There does come a time when it can spill over into actual, provable fraud.

You may have trust issues. Maybe you had an older brother who kept scamming you out of candy or allowance money.
Recognizing a fraudster who is scamming people does in no way mean that a person has "trust issues" though again, nice try at an ad hominem distraction.

Yep they have far more experience at taking investors money and enriching themselves.

How much would say Mills is worth? Have you ever wondered where he obtained that money from and for what? I mean his 'business' has a straight record of 30 years of failure - how did he get rich from that?

Care to look behind the curtain?

Speaking of looking behind the curtain:
I received Brett Holverstott's book Randell Mills and the Search for Hydrino Energy in the mail a couple of weeks ago. Only managed the time to read up to chapter 3 so far. Great read. The book relates that Randy and his brother operated a farm business and were making more money in their teens than Randy's university professors. This financed his way through college. His work ethic would put posters here to shame.

Lots of company's come up with big plans and fail - it part of the business cycle. What make BLP unique is how long its been failing at the same thing yet it seems to keep catching new investors - and wasting their money ad nausea.

I think it should be easy to prove the device does not work and Mills knows it. That the demonstration is staged.

Wow. You really don’t understand the difference between a dog and pony show where a third party checks some instruments and actual third party validation.

I also like how he dismisses the other company, the one working on LENR, since they lack "validation", while ignoring the 30 year history of people claiming successful experiments on LENR. There's at least as much (bad) evidence for LENR as there is for hydrinos, and from more that just the one source at that, but somehow that's not enough to convince him.

Which is pretty much what we expected, really. The One True Faith Is Different. TOTFID? I need to work on that acronym.

His work ethic would put posters here to shame.

And this is something I would actually agree with. The problem is, the work he's doing is fraudulent ********.

Have you ever watched the show Better Call Saul? In particular the episodes where the lead character is working to pull off a scam. I like it, in that it shows exactly how much work it takes to set up and pull off some scams. It's way more effort than just going to a regular job. It requires a "work ethic which would put most people to shame".

But they're still scams.

ETA: Read some of the stories about scams here:

https://www.themodernrogue.com/

and you'll see what I mean. There's lots of people with great work ethics, who direct their work towards fraud and other types of crime. "Work ethic" tells us nothing.

Quotes an obviously lying document yet again

During April-May 2016, five independent third-party validations of Brilliant Light Power’s SunCell Technology were carried out at BrLP’s facilities in Cranbury, NJ. In each case, a scientist from academia or industry supervised and directed experiments and measurements, with BrLP staff acting in a support role to facilitate the work of the validator. Experimental set-ups were built from components, and instruments were calibrated in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications under the supervision of the validators. Four validation methods were employed to substantiate the SunCell® reaction power levels. These test results all demonstrate up to megawatt net power when compared to reference reactions.
29 August 2018 markie: Quotes an obviously lying document yet again - these are not 5 "independent third-party validations"
These "validations" were people being paid to look at tests run at BLP using BLP people on BLP apparatus.
Light from exploding silver in a reactor is not evidence for Mill's delusions. Heat from exploding silver in a reactor is not evidence for Mill's delusions.

There are four reports by Dr. Randy Booker, Dr. Peter Jansson, Dr. K.V. Ramanujachary, and Dr. Joseph Renick. Randy Booker, Peter Jansson and K.V. Ramanujachary have previous involvement with BLP.
Randy Booker has been involved with Mills delusions since at least 2005.
The electrical engineer, Peter Jansson, has been involved with Mills delusions since at least 2002.
We have encountered K.V. Ramanujachary before (involved with Mills delusions since 2010?).
Joseph Renick looks to be the only new scientist involved in Mill's scam. A PROS AND CONS OF DISCOVERY OF BLP PDF lists Renick as a "believer". If the quote is correct then Renick has fallen for Mill's delusional and lying book.

It isn't. And don't be too concerned about the dark underbelly of capitalism, it's just the nature of the beast. We're not at the place of a Star Trek type of economic system and probably won't be for hundreds of years.

Wait a minute...

the Star Trek post-scarcity economy is happening right now at BLP, isn't it?

I can't wait hundreds of years for this thing to pay off. I want my money now! JG Wentworth?

Markie,
The irony here is that your skepticism of the 'upstart', Deneum, is almost akin to our derision of BLP. Maybe now you can see where we're coming from, with you having a gang of crackpots/conmen to belittle. And given that Deneum and BLP are fundamentally similar, the irony is doubly rich if you continue to shill for your 'messiah'.

I am only skeptical that Deneum will be successful. I'm not implicating the two or three entrepreneurs as conmen or the two scientists/engineers crackpots. In fact from the little I know of the scientist Tsvetkov I admire his tenacity for keeping at his cold fusion work since 1989. Cold fusion is not easy and has been very hard to nail down thus far.

Oh I think LENR is real (despite Mills thinking otherwise). It's just proven to be very hard to get consistent results for reasons such as materials variability and lack of a good theory. I don't doubt Deneum is getting at least some results but I am dubious that they can achieve the consistency and amounts of energy density and power density required for a commercial product.

So lack of a good theory does not get in the way of belief. Good to know.

Materials variability?!? I had thought we have the technology to exert controls on material variability to very tiny fractions of a per cent. Where critical applications demand, at least. But I guess a departure from nominal of, say, 0.001% completely throws off results. Nice out, that. Aided by the incomplete theory.

So I guess it just takes a correct theory and good materials to realize commercialization of LENR. And hydrinos.

Wait. Randall was scamming rubes even before BLP? Shock.

Just like Mills. Try to apply the same standard across the board and avoid the special pleading fallacy.

Investors want options if they are getting impatient. And Mills is giving them options. Accredited investors are going to gobble up those shares on the secondary market. Looks like a win win for everyone.

Well, it’s a win for anyone planning to resell those shares to the next sucker. Anyone looking to cash in on an eventual product is going to get screwed.

You may have trust issues. Maybe you had an older brother who kept scamming you out of candy or allowance money.

Bwhahahahaha!!!!

That’s precious. It’s like watching a third grader trying out negging.

If I were timid and stupid enough to invest in something like BLP that might have scared me, but I’m an adult with the ability to evaluate someone’s claims objectively. I also tend to get annoyed with people who try a “hard sell” on me. The tactic you just tried is defiantly one I’ve seen from used car salesmen pushing a lemon.

Yes, because a religion’s propaganda texts are always objective and unbiased. :)

By materials variability I had in mind electrode material. For instance early workers in the LENR field found out that palladium electrodes from Johnson Matthey could produce LENR effects, but palladium electrodes from elsewhere would not. Furthermore even within the same company there was batch variability, one batch of electrodes producing LENR effects and another one not.
Very difficult to control for these things especially when one doesn't know what subtle aspects of the crystalline palladium lattice to look for.

BLP's experiments, especially recently, consistently produce large energetic effect, in all likelihood because it is not related to LENR. But in the early days there could be some significant variability in hydrino experiments. For instance when hydrogen gas was forced through very long lengths of heated copper pipes, where the copper was sourced from made a sizeable difference in energy generation, which was a big deal because the power generation back then was not so high. Latter on in gas and plasma cells, the electrode material made a difference. Electrodes which were more oxidized to start with seemed to work better, a somewhat counterintuitive result. (Now it is understood why). But even with such variableness, in the 1990s Infinite Energy magazine related what was well known at the time: BLP's results were consistently positive when compared to the hit and miss of LENR results.

That was a plot point in the "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde." Hyde needs to hide from the police, but can no longer transform back into Jekyll. The new batch of the serum that's supposed to cause the reversion is not working. Eventually he suspects there was a contamination in one of the ingredients from the original, working batch, that was unknowingly critical to the process. He's desperately writing various chemical providers to try and find out whose chemicals were contaminated and with what.

I'm pleased to see Mills turned to some of the classics for inspiration.
