John McCain Diagnosed With Brain Cancer

Ah, the perils of being a Republican in the two thousand teens.

James Inhofe made a speech on the Senate floor in the "Let's get some sound bytes to send the folks back home" morning session (or mourning session), praising McCain.

Having done so, he then steps on his own dick, later in the day. When questioned about the up-and-down White House flag goings on, he actually thumbed through his "Excuses For Wifebeaters For Dummies" and offered up that McCain actually brought this on because he was critical of Donnie Johnny. The few non-zombie voters in Oklahoma who hear the second comment aren't going to appreciate it, but he just had to side with Trump 'cuz that's what you do if you're a GOP lawmaker.

I'm sure he's sitting by his phone hoping for a mention from the emperor. Maybe he'll get a cabinet job out of it?

Breaking News! McCain's Not Dead!
At least according to the crazy right-wing:
Furthermore, according to a conspiracy theory network popular among some Trump boosters, when McCain supposedly died on Saturday, he did not succumb to cancer but took his own life to avoid being hauled off to Guantanamo Bay and put before a military tribunal for his longtime work helping Islamic State terrorists and others. (And before he died, he concealed his criminal ankle bracelet by wearing a medical boot on his leg.)

Unless, of course, the suicide, like the cancer, was just a ruse. In that case, McCain will continue to work secretly for the deep state and for the Clinton Foundation.

Clearly, he should be in charge of this administration's response to climate change. Having found a snowball one winter, he's now an expert.

People forget he was offered a way out of the Hanoi Hilton because his father was an admiral, and he refused because the only way he was getting out is if everybody else got out. As a result he was tortured for several years.

He's a legitimate hero, and yet every time people tried to say he was, he'd push that title it onto someone else.

(Belated)

I'm not an American so I didn't know much about him, and I disagreed strongly with his politics, but this event in his history alone displayed more bravery and integrity than most people show in a lifetime.

It's no surprise Trump hated him, the contrast couldn't be clearer.

trending a lot on Twitter are threads and memes claiming McCain was a traitor who ratted out the USA to Vietnam and was the direct cause of over 60 aircraft being shot down when he gave them classified info about their flight paths and trained their AA crews.

These are coming from Right Wing and Trump supporting accounts.
They are getting a lot of likes and retweets.

The crackpots are having some fun at McCain's expense. https://grrrgraphics.com/ten-reasons-not-to-mourn-mccain/

Yeah, this first one is stupid; the rest might also be just as idiotic. Seeing as how McCain's plane was positioned to point inboard (the exhaust was pointed to the ocean) there was no plane behind him for his alleged hot start plume to ignite a bomb.

Ranb

Didn't you know, starting a military jet is just like starting a car. Turn the key and away you go.

The Fox News website had to disable comments on their McCain stories.

Unfortunately, nowadays I automatically go to "What's the biggest 'dick' move The PDJT could pull here?" It crosses my mind that he could cancel that flyover citing it's a "waste of money".

I'm expecting a tweet along the lines of he doesn't want to go and has better things to do. Probably also a bit of "they wanted me to give the eulogy but I said no" and "I'm too busy" followed by a day's golfing.

I hope someone is looking very closely at possible Putin-bots spreading this story: sounds like typical divisive propaganda.

I'm convinced mostly this is veiled hatred for being a traitor to his race, by saying some illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay here as part of a grand bargain including border security. A shot-down pilot's classified secrets are going to have a very limited operational shelf life, if hd even had that access to begin with. Methinks the accusations over Vietnam are a (known) baseless smear to cover for their dog whistle designed to appeal to a goodly chunk of nationalist Trump voters.

I was disappointed that my nephew did not stand when between innings the scoreboard carried a brief tribute to McCain. My Trump-voting brother stood as did I but my nephew (26 or so, who served briefly in the Army) made it a point not to. He would have no reason to be against McCain except for the propaganda he's been swallowing from Trump et al. It's possible he had a well-informed reason for staying seated but I doubt it; he tends to follow Trump's lead.

I thought of an even worse one. The PDJT will crash the funeral and insist on saying a few words, ostensibly to "bury the hatchet" but in reality to steal the spotlight and make even McCain's funeral coverage ALL ABOUT TRUMP.

I can't even wrap my mind around the mental gymnastics of attacking McCain's time as a POW. There's no way to attack him without attacking other downed pilots who made similar propaganda videos after being tortured in North Vietnam and North Korea. Vietnam was famous for Commander Denton, a shot down naval aviator, blinking "TORTURE" in morse code during such a propaganda film.

How military types accept this treatment of McCain by a notorious draft dodger is inexplicable to me. Trump is the ultimate Jody, banging women left and right and laughing at the GI who's too dumb to avoid Vietnam.

Soldiers should be seen, not heard.
And die heroically at the appropriate time.
Coming back and getting into politics is somehow violating the Deal.

Statement from the President

Despite our differences on policy and politics, I respect Senator John McCain’s service to our country and, in his honor, have signed a proclamation to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until the day of his interment.

I have asked Vice President Mike Pence to offer an address at the ceremony honoring Senator McCain at the United States Capitol this Friday.

At the request of the McCain family, I have also authorized military transportation of Senator McCain’s remains from Arizona to Washington, D.C., military pallbearers and band support, and a horse and caisson transport during the service at the United States Naval Academy.

Finally, I have asked General John Kelly, Secretary James Mattis, and Ambassador John Bolton to represent my Administration at his services.

John McCain will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy Cemetery in Annapolis, Maryland.

And yet again, it is all about Trump. "I have asked..." "I have authorized..." "I have signed..." Even the death of a man who ended up fighting him almost to his last breath has to be about the orange buffoon.

Nice ignoring that McCain did not want Trump at this funeral.
What is funny is that S and A thinks posting this makes Trump look good, when it makes him look bad to all but the cult members.

This country is in a state of cold civil war,and I think it might well turn hot.
