"I feel very badly for Paul Manafort and his wonderful family. “Justice” took a 12 year old tax case, among other things, applied tremendous pressure on him and, unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to “break” - make up stories in order to get a “deal.” Such respect for a brave man!"

"A large number of counts, ten, could not even be decided in the Paul Manafort case. Witch Hunt!" "Michael Cohen plead guilty to two counts of campaign finance violations that are not a crime. President Obama had a big campaign finance violation and it was easily settled!"

LOL

And there it is folks, just as we all predicted:

1) Manafort not getting charged in 10 out of 18 counts = proof it's a witch hunt

2) Cohen pleading guilty to a crime that involves me = not a crime... oh, and "but Obama"

The little orange guy is sooooo predictable.

*snort*

How did Cohen plead guilty to something that is not a crime? That's gotta be an interesting guilty plea.

BTW, I will note that the trump didn't actually deny that Cohen did what he plead guilty to. "Yeah, I directed him to pay hush money to a hooker to cover up my affair with her, but it's not illegal"

The stupid thing is, his supporters will swallow that.

Is there anything at all that you think his supporters will not swallow?

As far as I can tell, it really doesn't matter what is said, what is proven and what is speculation. Supporters of Donald Trump, as we've seen around here, will support Donald Trump come hell, high-water, fire, flood or any other damn thing.

There could be Imax, 3D footage of him banging multiple hookers and writing them out cheques from his Russian Bank account that's been personally filled with cash by Putin and they still wouldn't care.

It's the American, political way. Never retreat, never surrender, never concede a point or a victory, never co-operate or even pretend to understand the other guy's position, he is the enemy and a backward step is a step into oblivion even if - no - especially if you find out you're wrong.

I think if it can be established that he paid for an abortion in one of these affairs, it would cost him a little. Maybe 5%, but a hit nonetheless.

Trump Tweets

"If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don’t retain the services of Michael Cohen!"

Trump has notably never been observed to be laughing, but that tweet is ffff-ing hilarious. Not sure he meant it to be funny, but still . . . .

Is this based on something in the real world, or is it again just :rule10 he made up?

"Obama's 2008 campaign was fined $375,000 by the Federal Election Commission after the campaign failed to provide a 48-hour notice for nearly 1,300 contributions that totaled more than $1.8 million. Notices must be filed on contributions of $1,000 or more that are revived within 20 days of Election Day."

Ignorance is Strength.

On the basis of absolutely no research - not even going to Google once - and on the basis of absolutely no expertise in this area, I speculate that Obama's situation was not a criminal offense, whereas Cohen/Trump's activities definitely were criminal.

The difference is that the Obama campaign didn't lie about it, didn't try to cover it up and didn't obstruct the investigation into it.
Trump would have almost certainly gotten away with a fine if he had come clean about the payments right after the election.

Since there's more and more talk of it... if Trump gets impeached, does that mean he'll just look like a regular white guy?
(pretty sure i'm nowhere near the first person to ask this question)

Trump had an absolutely horrible Tuesday, with Manafort getting convicted and Cohen flipping and admitting Trump was also engaged in election fraud. (Then there was the minor issue of Omarossa's latest tape, which unfortunately didn't amount to much. Plus, another of Trump's republican supporters was charged with misuse of campaign funds)

Its hard to think of any way that Tuesday could have been worse for Trump.

Fortunately, we found a way:

From: https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/22/politics/trump-backed-foster-friess/index.html
Republican megadonor Foster Friess will lose Wyoming's GOP gubernatorial nomination race, CNN projects, handing a rare primary defeat to a candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump... "I don't want to brag about it," Trump said, "but man do I have a good record of endorsements."

I wonder if that will have any effect on republican congress-critters, finding that Trump may not have the political weight that people think, and cause them to be more likely to grow a backbone in standing up to Trump. (OK, probably not, but its fun to dream.)

And yet, 8 counts were decided in the Manafort case, as guilty. That's a larger number of counts than I've ever been found guilty of. :D

And the other 10 are a Mis-Trial, not a not-guilty verdict. The prosecutors can haul his ass in for another round only about these ten whenever they want.
I doubt Manafort can afford his lawyers next time, though.
