Jonathan Turley on Fox is actually reporting if Cohen was guilty of campaign finance law violation then Trump is.

But they still have a commenter on saying some people disagree the payments to Daniels and McDugal were illegal. Cohen was just convicted of a crime some people on Fox claim isn't a crime.


Trump just got his distraction, they found the body of Mollie Tibbetts the college student who disappeared 5 weeks ago and an illegal immigrant is suspected. :rolleyes:

SOmeday one of Trump's supporters will kill somebody because of a Trump rant.
As for Turley's remark there was not much else he could say. Somebody ordering a crime is just as guilty as the person who carries it out is basic Criminal Law stuff.

I don't really care what happens to Manafort but I didn't want to see anyone trying to claim vindication for Trump. So I'm relieved by the verdict.

As far as retrying on "hung" charges - I doubt if it's worth it, but I'm not sure what goes into these decisions.

Would like to see huge fines against Manafort.

We can expect Trump to downplay, even ignore, the Cohen plea but you can be sure he'll bring up the Tibbetts suspect.

Sure, but a retrial on those remaining 10 counts is not likely to happen for at least 6 more months. They can always drop them. And it's not like preparing to retry Manafort should require much effort. You want to pile on. In a small way, the hung jury on these charges is a small blessing for the prosecution. Consider that this judge has to sentence him. If the judge gives him perhaps too lenient a sentence, they almost certainly will have a different judge in the retrial.

I'm just viewing this as pressure to get him to talk.
 
I'm sufficiently curious about how Trump will handle the day's events that I'm actually watching the Charleston rally live stream.

They're playing the Star Spangled Banner for the 3rd time now, he hasn't appeared yet.

ETA: and the 4th . . . finally appeared in the 5th round of Star Spangled Banner.

I wonder if it's just as a backup in case Trump is dumb enough to pardon him; they need to wait until Trump is out of office and they can try the other ten to make sure this stuff will stick for sure.
 
I love how Trump is saying, "this has nothing to do with the Russia investigation. This is a witch hunt, etc."

In other words, 'this isn't one illegal thing I might be guilty of, it's a totally different illegal thing that I might be guilty of.' Shouldn't Rudy be telling his client to shut the hell up?

I noticed Star Spangled banner on another old Trump rally over and over. But the live feed from FOX actually had several rock-ish songs and then "Country Road" playing when he appeared. I assume the streaming channel puts in non-copyright songs so the video doesn't get pulled.
(I had never watched one live so I sort of just figured this out.)

I made it to 15 minutes in and decided reading short highlights later was a better idea!
