The thing is that there are plenty of people in the U.S. and just in Hollywood who are wealthy enough to indemnify anybody who actually releases such tapes. But nobody has said "I'll put $10 million in escrow. Let's get'ed."
Not that we know of. I wouldn't be surprised if there have been things happening behind the scenes.

But the real problem is, Trump using the word is not going to lose him any support. If someone has him on tape conspiring to commit or cover up actual crimes, that might have some impact.

I think the hope is that there's a group of Trump supporters who don't think that he's a racist, but would re-evaluate if they heard that word.

I'm not convinced. I could imagine that some would have to drop their wilful blindness and some might be embarrassed, but I'm sure they'll find a way to Trumpsplain it away.

Yeah, I rather doubt that Trump's evangelical supporters are sitting at home thinking "I'm sure Trump would never refer to black people as *******"

Nope. They don't doubt it, they're just finding it in their hearts to forgive an imperfect person. Bless.

This is what is worrying. Religion seems to still hold a massive sway in the US. Those same religious types have already forgiven and forgotten racism, sexism, sexual abuse and subservience to countries like Russia. What's left?

Actually, the pretense or cloak of religion holds sway. They're not fundamental Christians. They're right wing whackos whose hobby is mouthing praise for Jesus as they disobey every tenet of his religion six days out of seven.

You could present them with a tape of Trump saying that Jesus was a transgendered black homo, that the NT is fake news, and that there are good people on both sides, like Judas who was given a bum rap by the failing Vatican Times.....

And they'd still vote for him because he gives them a tax cut, hates the same colors of people that they hate and is going to stack the Supreme Court.

White House: 'Can't guarantee' no tape of Trump using n-word

http://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...-cant-guarantee-no-tape-of-trump-using-n-word

Tapes by the end of the week anyone?

Honestly, when I first saw this, my reaction was fairly simply... "What would this do or prove?" Not to belittle it, but... it feels like it would be little more than a tempest in a teapot, at best, at this point, and serve to further embolden nastier people, at worst. I suppose that it could be meaningful to the crowd that hides behind "I don't have to admit that it's racist if "******" wasn't used," but... given the actions of Trump and his administration so far, I would have to wonder how many people are left there.

I think maybe half of his suppporters think this. There are certainly Republican voters that simply want the tax cuts or a conservative court. They are supporting him as a matter of practicality. A means to an end.

The other half are xenophobic and poor. Not a clue about his policies but are more afraid of the new Indian or Mexican neighbor or coworker than they are concerned with taxes, the deficit or healthcare. They see Trump's tariffs as taking on those same people abroad that they think stole their jobs. It's white people against the world.

Trump set to ignore congressional directive preventing the recognition of Crimea as part of Russia
Being tough on Russia by recognizing the annexation of Crimea.
And... it should also be noted that the directives preventing recognition of Crimea as part of Russia (that Trump will be ignoring) appeared in a defense bill that Trump signed with great fanfare earlier this week. (I guess he was too busy not mentioning McCain's name on the bill during the signing ceremony to mention he didn't like the parts about Russia.)

Speaking of Trump and the military:

From: https://www.npr.org/2018/08/13/637992389/white-house-takes-aim-at-financial-protections-for-military
...the White House is proposing changes that critics say would leave service members vulnerable to getting ripped off when they buy cars. Separately, the administration is taking broader steps to roll back enforcement of the Military Lending Act. The MLA is supposed to protect service members from predatory loans and financial products.

The republicans... the pro-military party!

They are, you seem to confuse that with caring at all about the members of said military. The military is a great profit center for so many businesses why would you want to hurt the entrepreneurial spirit like payday loans to service people?

The new litmus test for Republicans:Defend Trump at his worst.
In Minnesota, the GOP primary for governor winner attacked nis opponent for not defending Trump when the Access Hollywood tapes came out.
The GOP I once could vote for is dead,and I am afraid beyond resurrection. Hopring for a new Centrist Conservative Party.

Forgiveness has nothing to do with it. They see him as an instrument ... AKA tool.

The ends justify the means, and he is their means.

That's the problem;The progressive wing of the Dems will drive away centrist voters if they gain power.

That's the problem;The progressive wing of the Dems will drive away centrist voters if they gain power.

So, start a centrist party. It wouldn't be susceptible to the spoiler effect.

This is the ideological origins of the modern Democratic Party:

In our day these economic truths have become accepted as self-evident. We have accepted, so to speak, a second Bill of Rights under which a new basis of security and prosperity can be established for all regardless of station, race, or creed.

Among these are:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the Nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.

America's own rightful place in the world depends in large part upon how fully these and similar rights have been carried into practice for our citizens. For unless there is security here at home there cannot be lasting peace in the world.

Trump Tweets

"Great Republican election results last night. So far we have the team we want. 8 for 9 in Special Elections. Red Wave!"

"“People who enter the United States without our permission are illegal aliens and illegal aliens should not be treated the same as people who entered the U.S. legally.” Chuck Schumer in 2009, before he went left and haywire! @foxandfriends"

Depends on the crime, I mean his lawyer is going on the air and confessing to various crimes he committed and that doesn't matter, why would more proof of his illegal activities matter?
