OK, then, here's a thought for you:

You seem to be awfully militant about a topic that, at best, all evidence suggests agnosticism/unknowability is the best response.

Why, for example, do you take Don Jr's word for it that no dirt was revealed when Don Jr himself has already lied repeatedly about the nature of the meeting? Please justify your militance and explain why it is more appropriate than agnosticism in this instance.
 
The reason I think Russians possibly/probably didn't actually have any dirt is because...what dirt is there on Hillary re: her dealings in Russia? Is the idea supposed to be that Trump has the dirt but chose not to release it out of kindness, or he's waiting till the 2020 election, or what? The Papadopoulos plea statement does say the stolen DNC emails were part of the supposed "dirt", but that's dirt that's not actually much in the way of dirt, and it doesn't have anything to do with Hillary in Russia.

But Trump didn't know that. This is a man who believes that Barack Obama went back in history and paid off not just the registrar of births in Honolulu but the Births and Deaths writers at the local newspaper. He also thinks that a black bible-thumping congregation agrees with him that he knows the Gospel, that millions of wetbacks voted illegally for Someone Not Donald Trump, and that he has a seven handicap in golf (with scores kept on the honor system, by a man with no honor).

He believed, which is why he asked for them, just as the vaunted Congressional committees believed.... that buried in those emails was going to be an email from Hillary to Obama saying, "Well, **** 'em. We can always get a new ambassador. We can't send in troops to Benghazi because our best friend the Ayatollah won't like it."

Collusion and conspiracy do not require that there was actually anything of value in those emails, just that The Donnies thought there was.

Totally. Well, I think he was lying about being a birther, although you never know, but I'm sure he did think Hillary was at least money laundering for/with Russians or something like that, and that was the sort of "proof" of "crookedness" the Russians were going to hand him.

It's what he'd have been doing in her position.

ETA: The idea that someone might have a better grasp of risk and rewards than him , even if fundamentally dishonest, is anathema to Trump.

Because in the absence of knowledge, our criminal justice system defaults in a very specific direction. It does not suffice to suspect someone of criminal action.

You aren't teaching me anything. I know all this. And I don't find your interpretation credible. To construe speech as a "thing of value" in this context is an overbroad interpretation which will run afoul of the first amendment. And name calling doesn't make you any more persuasive.

Its worth noting that when Dolt 45 publicly asked Russia to find those missing emails, that could well fall under solicitation

It was a joke. Just like Obama suggesting his enemies would be audited was a joke. You can argue that it was inappropriate, that even as a joke it pushed boundaries that shouldn't be pushed, and in both cases I would agree. But that doesn't suffice for a criminal complaint.
