I just saw on TV a Trump supporter at the PA rally say that the Clintons, Bushes, and Obamas are running the "Deep State" that Trump has been fighting since "before he was elected". Sheesh. Like I said, you can't fix stupid.

Conservatives are more likely than liberals to endorse conspiracy theories. Many are highly knowledgeable about politics and have little trust in institutions, a new study finds.

◾Conservatives are more likely to endorse ideologically congruent conspiracies than liberals.
◾Individuals with a high level of trust in institutions are less likely to endorse conspiracy theories.
◾Conservatives knowledgeable about politics are more likely to endorse ideologically congruent conspiracy theories. There is no evidence of a similar correlation among liberals.
◾Conservatives knowledgeable about politics who also have little trust in institutions are most associated with endorsement of ideologically consistent conspiracy theories: “Highly knowledgeable conservatives are more likely to engage in ideologically motivated endorsement, especially if they believe that the world is an untrustworthy place.”
◾Conservatives and liberals knowledgeable about politics are less likely than their unknowledgeable counterparts to endorse incongruent conspiracies – for example, a liberal is less likely to endorse the theory that President Obama was not born in the United States.
◾For liberals, greater knowledge about politics and greater trust in institutions both appear to decrease their tendency to endorse conspiracy theories.

I just watched bikers at Sturgis interviewed. What so many of them said had me just shaking my head in disbelief.
Almost to a person, they supported Trump...bigly. One even had a large "Trump 2020" tattoo on his arm which I find indicative of cult type behavior. I wonder how he'll feel about that tat in 15 or 20 years, and especially if the Mueller investigation finds evidence that Trump committed a crime(s).

Trump Tweets

"California wildfires are being magnified & made so much worse by the bad environmental laws which aren’t allowing massive amount of readily available water to be properly utilized. It is being diverted into the Pacific Ocean. Must also tree clear to stop fire spreading!"

I doubt Trump can make the connection between tree clearing and soil erosion which causes landslides.

Trump’s claims about the lack of water apparently come from a 2015 proposal floated by the Tree People, an environmental nonprofit, that Californians should capture rainwater draining from roofs and streets instead of allowing it to continue into the ocean.

Let's add this Trump claim to the list of lies of today that his supporters will swallow whole.

I wouldn't say playing Poe on this board is by default... pro level, but you really need to step up your game.
HTH HAND.
;)

Us high school dropouts don't have a game to step up. I do know that trying to do away with capitalism in the U.S. is just stupid, so I don't feel I'm out of my depth here.

I don't get the insistence of Republicans on calling it the "Democrat" Party, instead of the "Democratic" Party. I suppose it's supposed to be some sort of insult?

Does anyone know what the hell he's talking about? Forest and water management is a difficult subject. It virtually doesn't matter how it is managed, someone will complain about it. Probably some timber company that wants to cut down the last of the Redwoods got in his ear?

I don't think they perceive Russian takeover of our government as anything alarming. The deep state and Clinton's emails OTOH for some reason are horribly worrisome.

Yes, it's the gospel that 'Democrat' Party has a negative connotation according to a Frank Luntz focus group a few decades back.

And Luntz giggled with delight when after sending GOP minions out to the talk show rounds using "Democrat Party" in their Talking Points memos, the press adopted the term as well.

But try saying Republic Party in this forum and all the right wing double standard hypocrites have a cow.

Some use it as a slur, others out of ignorance.

However, some Republican leaders have made a habit of referring to their opposition incorrectly and discourteously as the “Democrat Party.” The reason isn’t entirely clear; it may be meant to imply that the party isn’t sufficiently “democratic” in the general sense, or may just be meant as a petty insult. In August 2006, Hendrik Hertzberg traced this Republican usage, which he termed a “slur” on his party, back to the 1940s. He says it was used by opponents to needle the powerful Pendergast organization in Kansas City, which backed Harry Truman. He also says it was used often by the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy.
