It does seem to translate as "Donald Trump is too ignorant to realise that conspiring with the Russians was actually a crime".
I read it as "Trump tries out new defence strategy." If he's concerned someone else may have broken the law, that means he couldn't have done it himself, you see? That's logic!

I doubt Trump has ever worried about the fate of anyone but himself.

Do you think the Dolt will through his children under the bus to save his own skin?

He barely knew Don Jr. Don Jr. wasn't involved in the campaign for very long, and wasn't doing anything important for it. Maybe stuffing some envelopes, putting signs in peoples' front yards, that kind of thing. What about Hillary giving the Russians all our uranium, huh?

I think if the Dems control the house (more importantly, the House Judiciary Committee), I could see Mueller picking a family member to probe at. Mostly to see what response that draws (especially the illegal kind).

I think he'll protect his family. I think his version of doing so will seal all their fates, however.

Sekulow says that the idea of "obstruction of justice by tweet is absurd"

However, this opinion piece by Brent Budowski reproduces one of the sections of one of the articles from Nixon's impeachment, which I'll reproduce here:

“making or causing to be made false or misleading public statements for the purpose of deceiving the people of the United States into believing that a thorough and complete investigation had been conducted with respect to allegations of misconduct on the part of personnel of the executive branch of the United States and personnel of the Committee for the Re-election of the President, and that there was no involvement of such personnel in such misconduct.”

As he points out, this means "repeatedly making false statements intended to deceive the public about matters under investigation constitute acts in furtherance of obstruction of justice in violation of American law".

trump Tweets

"Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics - and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!"

"...Why aren’t Mueller and the 17 Angry Democrats looking at the meetings concerning the Fake Dossier and all of the lying that went on in the FBI and DOJ? This is the most one sided Witch Hunt in the history of our country. Fortunately, the facts are all coming out, and fast!"

"Too bad a large portion of the Media refuses to report the lies and corruption having to do with the Rigged Witch Hunt - but that is why we call them FAKE NEWS!"

Not exactly MDC-level prediction but from the first part of this thread:

Brief history of excuses:
1. There was no collusion
2. Maybe there was but I didn't know about it
3. Maybe I knew but so what
4. Lots of people collude
5. It's not illegal when the president does it
6. What about Hillary?
8. You can't indict a president
9. I'll just pardon myself

I reckon we're at 5a "It might have been illegal, but it was all an accident - and it wasn't me, just my nearest and dearest"

From what I've read so far, the accountants' testimony has been pretty damning, and I can't imagine that the feds hadn't thought to talk to the accountants until Gates suggested it.

Kinda makes me wonder what Gates gave them, because it doesn't look like the Feds needed anything.

Maybe Gates gave them the bogus invoices?

Not just the accountants. The vendors did a pretty good job on him as well. Manafort bought a million dollars worth of suits paid for through overseas wires. After hearing one of the accountants talking about the overseas accountants, his wife started to cry and left the courtroom. You can tell she knew that the evidence was damning.

Oh man... that itemized list of purchases from 6-8 months ago? It was jaw-dropping to be sure, I think some of it was ludicrously hilarious laundering as well IIRC.
Someone dig that thing out please, and let's have another look shall we? [emoji14]

Part of me says all of them were too ignorant to know

But then there are all those failures to mention Russian contacts and meetings in legal disclosures, the nonsense story the Trump Tower meeting was about adoptions, and they certainly had to know the Russians were asking for something in return besides getting a friend of Putin's elected.

I never saw the list. But I saw a report of the testimony from the suit maker. He said Manafort was the only customer who had ever paid with wires from offshore banks.

One of the ingredients that the prosecution must prove is that Manafort knew he was evading taxes. The more than 30 different bank accounts and his use of offshore banks to pay various vendors proves his intent.

That he took convoluted actions as opposed to laying down a credit card for these kind of purchases demonstrates his consciousness of guilt. One can hardly say he didn't know he was doing something illegal

Manafort is an idiot for not making a deal with Mueller. His guilt is more than obvious. The only thing I can think of for his failing to make a deal is he thinks Trump will pardon him. Only a fool would pardon Manafort but we are talking about Trump here. And tax evasion by the rich is something Trump has no problem with.

I agree, he absolutely must believe he's going to get a pardon. That somehow Donald is going to save him.

Both the tax evasion and bank fraud are beyond obvious. One of the accountants admitted helping him provide phony documents to secure the bank loans.
