The "War on Christmas" lie was a stroke of genius created by, and for, the Republicans. It never existed. There was no "War on Christmas" but it gave the GOP something to get their base riled up and outraged about. And the stupid people fell for it because they wanted to believe it. They wanted to have something to show what victims of the Big Bad Liberals they were. Idiots.

Don't get me started on the faux victimhood of Christianity. They think they are being discriminated against because they aren't allowed to mistreat gays, lesbians and atheists.

What is astonishing..or what at least used to be astonishing to me is that he makes no appeal to us in terms of Manafort's innocence or guilt, just that he's a good guy, or worked for Reagan, or how he is being treated to Capone and so on. Trump could care less about whether he is guilty or not and he doesn't even care if he rots in jail, just as long as it doesn't affect him in any way. Trump has no fidelity to anything at all: his family, his country, the truth, or even an ideology. He is an empty shell of a human being.

And that's exactly the kind of person that 40% of the US electorate want to lead them - a vacuous TV personality only interested in personal enrichment and "ratings". :(

It's been said before, e.g. in an Editorial from CNN: Trump understands - and few orhers do, few in this thread - that Mueller will not, probably cannot indict him in a court of law as long as he is President. Trump is being held in a court of public opinion, for it's up to Congress to decide whether to impeach or not, and Congressmen, particularly Republicans, will consider public opinion. So as long as Trump can convince Republican representatives that the Mueller probe is seen ny the Rep public as more political than legal, a partisan thing, he should be safe. If he throws his own people under the bus with his unlawyerly conduct is a priority that comes in as a distant second or third.

Exactly. That is why I was horrified to hear about the DOJ announcing a new Religious Liberty Task Force. I am pretty sure the main purpose will be to protect the Christian liberty to discriminate.

EDIT: My error, it is not the DOJ, it is HHS that is forming this new task force. It was Sessions who announced it, leading my brain to assume DOJ. Or is HHS part of the DOJ? I'm Canadian, so please forgive my ignorance of American agencies.

I don't get it. The whole world has been laughing at this buffoon ever since his inuauguration. His tweets are SAD! His proposed legislation kept getting rejected. Putin made a monkey's uncle of him. His moronic son and smug-faced son-in-law set up meeings with Russians. He keeps HM the Queen waiting ten minutes. He cheats on Melania whilst she pregnant and/or a new mom to Barron. His own lawyer tapes him paying off some woman he's supposed to have sexually harrassed.

...And he's still in office?

Americans, do you feel no shame or embarrassment?
