Cont: The Trump Presidency VIII

After dating for just over two months, Idiot Trump Jr and former Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle are reportedly engaged, even though Idiot Trump Jr still is not divorced from wife Vanessa.

Trump Jr is so creepy. I've noticed Guilfoyle's absence from Fox but I don't know if she's officially on hiatus.

Trump Jr Tweeted

"Incredible numbers, I remember when 'the experts' laughed about breaking 3 percent. Just because Obama never broke 2 percent doesn't mean that someone with great policies can't."

There were 15 quarters during Obama's presidency when the economy experienced 2 percent growth or higher, 2014 had 4.9 percent

From the article, a statement by her lawyer:
“Any accusations of Kimberly engaging in inappropriate work-place conduct are unequivocally baseless and have been viciously made by disgruntled and self-interested employees. During her lengthy and decorated tenure with the company, Kimberly was beloved, well-respected, and supportive of anyone she ever met. It’s utterly preposterous that there are those who are nefariously and greedily twisting innocent conversations amongst close friends into much more than what it actually was for financial gain. Kimberly has happily moved onto the next chapter of her life and hopes others will do the same.”
"Decorated"? They gave her a medal? As a Fox News female, "decorative" would have been more appropriate. They are mostly just there to sit on a couch in a short skirt.
I continue to be amazed that Trump Jr is even dumber than his old man. Ivanka clearly got the brains in the family.

This is a great opinion piece on Trump's protectionism and subsidies. yes, the word "socialism" is misused but the points are excellent.

Now do you see what Friedrich Hayek meant when he said that socialism puts a society on the road to serfdom? Protectionism — government coercion supplanting the voluntary transactions of markets in the allocation of wealth and opportunity — is socialism for the well connected. But, then, all socialism favors those adept at manipulating the state. As government expands its lawless power to reward and punish, the sphere of freedom contracts. People become wary and reticent lest they annoy those who wield the administrative state as a blunt instrument.

I hear you. I was on holidays this past week and was reading Richard J Evans, The Third Reich in Power. When discussing Hitler and his propaganda theories, I found them so similar to Trump and his gaslighting that I got chills a couple of times reading it. This portion from the Wiki article on The Big Lie covers it well:

"His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."

I read The Handmaids Tale recently as well. I used to think that things like Nazi Germany or Gilead could never happen in the modern world. I no longer cling to such naive delusions.

So there is a silver lining to all this. Now you are forewarned. I was exactly like you before this election.

My bold -- an excellent description of Republican policy for around the last 150 years. Certainly for the last 100.

I think you guys are misreading that. Trump's attorneys are telling TRUMP to zip it. Nothing illegal about that; in fact it's excellent legal advice. Cohen should have been telling him that for years. Fortunately for us, Trump is constitutionally incapable of doing so.

From the link I think you are wrong Trebuchet. I'm trying to find the ABC interview where Giuliani said this but haven't found it.

I thought that 'check' was a call for the bill.

The other thing I just remembered was the mention of the "info regarding our friend David." The assumption made was that he meant David Pecker, head of the company they were dealing with. My first thought was of David Dennison, Trump's alter ego in matters complicit.

Yeah but it's pretty clear they are talking about Pecker. Trump jokes that he could be hit by a bus. I'm pretty sure there was talk of Pecker stepping down from AMI which could mean it could be released. They wanted to buy the story so they would own it.

4.1% GDP.

There were 15 quarters during Obama's administration when GDP growth surpassed 2 percent, The Week noted on Friday.
There were eight quarters of growth of at least 3 percent, including three of 4 percent or better.
The highest GDP growth of Obama's presidency was during the third quarter of 2014, when it hit 5.2 percent.[/QUOTE]http://thehill.com/homenews/administ...-percent-under

I'm surprised Trump isn't taking credit for those, too.

"We've accomplished an economic turnaround of historic proportions," Mr. Trump remarked Friday at the White House shortly after the Commerce Department released its GDP report.

In fact, Mr. Trump didn't inherit a fixer-upper economy.

The U.S. economy just entered its 10th year of growth, a recovery that began under President Barack Obama, who inherited the Great Recession. The data show that the falling unemployment rate and gains in home values reflect the duration of the recovery, rather than any major changes made since 2017 by the Trump administration.

While Mr. Trump praised the 4.1 percent annual growth rate in the second quarter, the economy exceeded that level four times during the Obama presidency: in 2009, 2011 and twice in 2014.

In purely numerical terms, a larger shift took place in the second quarter of 2014, when the economy went from contracting by 1 percent to growing at a rate of 5.1 percent.

Trump inherited a steadily growing and strengthening economy and now wants to take credit for it. It's like a mother raising a child alone until he's 18 when he goes off to live with his father and the father taking credit for how his son turned out.

Conspiracy theory destroyed! Thank you.

(Of course, if I'd bothered to go through the tape or transcript again... but I'm already sick of it.)

Term added. Almost all economies are growing - after the debacle of GOP deregulation created the last crisis. Now, like with the budget surplus inherited from Clinton, they are splurging the good they've been given and turning it into massive debt for their children to pay. Again. And deregulating massively whilst a suffering planet cannot keep up: enemies of their fellows, including their own children. To call them Nazis is an insult to Nazism. Should be called Nero-ists, as they are epic fools with a total addiction to hubris.

I hope that upon his comeuppance, Dolt45 *knows* in his deepest heart of hearts that his 'legacy' for all time will be one of derisive scorn. That history will point to him as an exemplar of foolish hubris brought low by ignorance, greed and narcissism.

And the guilty in his little clan are requiring a reckoning too...

Trump Tweets

"Please understand, there are consequences when people cross our Border illegally, whether they have children or not - and many are just using children for their own sinister purposes. Congress must act on fixing the DUMBEST & WORST immigration laws anywhere in the world! Vote “R”"
