"You know" is marginally better than "Know what I'm sayin'?"

It's a verbal crutch for filling dead air while he's thinking. It doesn't punctuate thoughts like, "Know what I'm sayin'?" would but rather separates them as he gathers thoughts.

Maybe, but it’s a plague nonetheless - especially among podcasters.

I find myself mentally saying, “Yes, I know”, or worse, “Yes, I DO know what you mean”. It’s quite annoying.

You know what I mean?

Trump Tweets

"The only things the Democrats do well is “Resist,” which is their campaign slogan, and “Obstruct.” Cryin’ Chuck Schumer has almost 400 great American people that are waiting “forever” to serve our Country! A total disgrace. Mitch M should not let them go home until all approved!"

"Democrats, who want Open Borders and care little about Crime, are incompetent, but they have the Fake News Media almost totally on their side!"

It's never entered Trump's mind why only FOX (owned by his buddy Murdoch) kisses his covfefe and not the rest of the news agencies either domestic or international. I guess all of them are Fake News while only FOX is Real News.

I want neither "open borders" nor do I "care little about Crime" so stop spreading this FAKE News, you dumb covfeve.

Why would you think that Trump actually believes all of the lies that he makes up, or, in this case, is borrowing from the GOP's false propaganda?

Who knows what goes on in that mind of his? It's like watching a squirrel on meth ping-ponging all over the place. However, I do think he actually believes a lot of what he says at the time he says it until it's no longer useful for him to do so. Then he never said it much less believed it.

How anyone can argue this man-child does not have mental issues is beyond logic...unless, of course, they've chosen to ignore their lying eyes and lying ears.

I once asked logger that same question here- his answer was something along the lines of "reasonable people know how to compromise." But that made no sense to me at all, since the basic position, that abortion is murder because a fetus is a human being, is an absolute that isn't amenable to compromise.
I also remembered a claim that women were victims of abortion(ists?) and silence when I asked if they should go to prison for murder. After Chris Mathews goaded Trump into saying women should be punished Kelly-Anne Conway pushed back saying that no, that was not a mainstream pro-life position. Which also makes no sense - women order the hit; yet somehow we are denied agency. We're just vessels, I guess.

If Democrats are still looking for a Trump nickname maybe he should just be "Dishonest Donald." It's a style of nickname has worked very well for him. And I think his dishonesty is more important than his crassness, his authoritarianism or even his incompetence. As much as I like Cheeto Benito and Hair Furor, "Dishonest Donald" is a clearer message.

If his sheer dishonesty is not enough to motivate voters this fall then I really don't know what message would work. It may be a trend that just has to play itself out.

ETA: I'm not usually crazy about the New Yorker's "Shouts and Murmurs" page but Bad News was pretty spot-on.

Trump is soooo digging his hole deeper, denying he knew about the Trump Tower meeting before it took place when the circumstantial evidence, is mounting.

I started a thread about what would be the best nickname for Trump. I heard some good ones including Benedict Donald and others that I really liked but I think I like Dishonest Donald the best. It is simple and it paints a clear and accurate picture of who everyone including his supporters know him to be.

A Republican President complaining about the obstruction of Democrats simply boggles my mind. Have American voters really forgotten how Obama struggled to get anything passed, and was disgracefully prevented from appointing a Supreme Court judge he had every right to appoint?

What are you talking about?

The secret to being a really good hypocrite is to have a very short memory.

That about sums it up now.
