Except it seems to be working very well considering how Trump has tried to obstruct the investigation that would've exonerated him. Surely he would've been perfectly supportive of such an investigation? Any rational person wouldn't be working almost constantly to undermine their own case...

Trumps attacks against the investigation and investigators should, because they are based almost completely upon lies, if anything be treated as evidence of guilt.

I'm still betting that Shera Bechard who was supposed to receive 1.6 million in hush money for having an affair and getting an abortion wasn't having that affair with as previously reported Republican donor Elliot Broidy but actually Donald Trump. And that is going to come out. Which is why Broidy stopped paying her following the raid on Michael Cohen.

This is too much a coincidence.

That's possible. It might even be probable. But I don't think it is really working. Trump really **** the bed. Even for him. The news about his sleazy affairs and payoffs is rather ho hum compared to betraying the nation on an International stage.

In this case, of course, that analogy addressed something a bit different than the gross misstatement that you actually made, of course, but what it addressed is, far too frequently, what that line of argument is used to try to actually do. Again, of course, you knew that. So why play the fool?

I've noticed when talking to Trumpers/GOP loyalists, when you try to have a serious conversation about anything political now, the smartest among them just start cracking bad jokes, like this is all just some surreal game.

It's all just reality TV to them.

There's a lot more to it than just that.

One of the things that Dolt 45 will be afraid of is that his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, who is currently under investigation, might decide to co-operate with prosecutors in the event that the investigation leads to an indictment and trial. That tape would have been one of the things that Michael Cohen would have had up his sleeve; he could have used it as a bargaining chip.

But now, the leaking of the existence of the tape (by the White House), has whipped that particular rug out from under Cohen's feet. If there is any more (and keep in mind that Dolt 45's lawyers know exactly what documents and materials were seized from Cohen in the April raid), I think we could see Dolt 45's people drip-feeding some of the information from those documents to the media in order to undermine Cohen's bargaining power. They know that this information will become public anyway, so they will see it as better for them if they release it on their own terms so that they can get ahead of it, rather than having to deal with a surprise release in the sensationalised media coverage of a trial.

And Cohen is still helping Trump while he tries to save himself.
