Trump gets to be on the cover of Time again.
More specifically, the cover features Trump and Putin's faces digitally merged into a single person.

You know, in the last few years I've done one of Obama and Romney, and Trump and Clinton ( I think I even used the same Trump source). I wish I'd thought of this new one, but it's been done now. And on a Time cover, no less!

Is far too complicated and nuanced a message for a large part of the US electorate.
It's a half truth. When you say that Democrats want to get rid of ICE, it can sound like party policy when there is instead a minority of Dems advocating that policy.

To be fair, a half truth is a large step up for Trump.

It may be worth noting that quite a few would be quite satisfied with proper oversight of the agency and actually holding the people accountable for their bad behavior, when it happens, rather than the current state of things where there's pretty much neither. 0.7% of claims about physical and sexual kinds of abuse investigated is not even close to an acceptable number.

I don't think "what is going on" is a mystery:

Dump knew from the get-go the extent of Russian meddling. For me, the subsequent 18+ months of denial rises to the impeachment level. Unfortunately, none of the GOP hews to that view. Like dudalb, I think GOPers who don't call out this administration and Trump specifically are traitors to their country - not in the legal sense but in the political sense.

The significance of this one...slipped a few people, I think. If you have someone able to get texts and the like from Putin himself, that's one hell of an asset to announce publicly, and likely destroy (and quite possibly not a US asset, strictly speaking - we at least had allies willing to share intelligence back then, remember).

Security folks don't do that.

Which means it's either gone via Putin's actions (hey, remember those supposedly mysterious deaths among Russian high-level ambassadors from shortly before Cheeto Benito's inauguration? Or the idiot blabbing foreign assets in the Oval Office?), or they've been safely retrieved. Ad to get that many people to verify the story means that this has likely been in the works for a while.

More to the point, that's a very clear shot at the idiot in chief, likely from his own intelligence agencies. And this isn't just personal bias - it's the sort of thing they do when people have decided that this needs to be out there in order to apply required public pressure.

This history of Trump's close connections to the New York mobs has likely been posted before, but it's worth revisiting. This is the guy in the White House.
No other candidate for the White House this year has anything close to Trump’s record of repeated social and business dealings with mobsters, swindlers, and other crooks. Professor Douglas Brinkley, a presidential historian, said the closest historical example would be President Warren G. Harding and Teapot Dome, a bribery and bid-rigging scandal in which the interior secretary went to prison. But even that has a key difference: Harding’s associates were corrupt but otherwise legitimate businessmen, not mobsters and drug dealers.

This is part of the Donald Trump story that few know. As Barrett wrote in his book, Trump didn’t just do business with mobbed-up concrete companies: he also probably met personally with Salerno at the townhouse of notorious New York fixer Roy Cohn, in a meeting recounted by a Cohn staffer who told Barrett she was present. This came at a time when other developers in New York were pleading with the FBI to free them of mob control of the concrete business.

It's trickle down imperialism: the Americans protect us so they can taste but a few drops of our luxury and wealth.
This post is how fake news ends up being passed around as real. The evidence it was a fake story gets dropped and the story gets reposted without it.

Trump Tweets

"I told you so! The European Union just slapped a Five Billion Dollar fine on one of our great companies, Google. They truly have taken advantage of the U.S., but not for long!"

Trump tweeted

"The Summit with Russia was a great success, except with the real enemy of the people, the Fake News Media. I look forward to our second meeting so that we can start implementing some of the many things discussed, including stopping terrorism, security for Israel, nuclear........"

"....proliferation, cyber attacks, trade, Ukraine, Middle East peace, North Korea and more. There are many answers, some easy and some hard, to these problems...but they can ALL be solved!"

House Democrats on Thursday erupted into the chants on the floor of the House of Representatives after House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., delivered a fiery speech condemning Russian President Vladimir Putin for election meddling and accusing Republicans of not doing enough to ensure security of future elections.

“Surely, we can rise above pandering to party and Putin to act on behalf of our freedom and our security,” Hoyer said to applause from Democrats, over the bangs of the gavel as the House was called to order by the speaker.

Democrats then began chanting. Republicans didn’t join in.

It came as the House moved forward with a spending bill that eliminates new funding for election security grants to states, amid protests by Democrats who say Republicans are not doing enough to prevent Russian meddling in U.S. elections.

He's a magic man.

These are matters of which I am ignorant, I'm sorry to say.

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell broke the news to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, who was on the stage of the Aspen Security Forum at the time, and appeared to have had no idea.

“The White House has announced on Twitter that Vladimir Putin is coming to the White House in the fall,” Mitchell told Coats.

“Say that again,” he replied, looking bewildered.

Mitchell then confirmed the announcement.

“Okay,” Coats said, taking a pause and laughing. “That’s gonna be special.”
