This is like accusing somebody of parking in a restricted zone when he is under investigation for murder.....

Confession. If by some miracle Trump does get impeached to the point of being removed from office, I'd wager it's going to be over some technicality rather than any of the big things people are really upset about. A "Getting Capone for Tax Evasion" moment if you will.

I can't put my finger on why it just... seems like that's how it would go.

No, I disagree. Impeachment is a political act, not a judicial one. Requires high crimes and misdemeanors which isn't defined. Obstruction of Justice isn't a technicality. That it was done to impede inquiries into foreign meddling in US elections is hardly something people shouldn't get upset about.

Chances are specific infractions will be easier to prove than some broader violation of principles. Al Capone famously went to prison for tax evasion because that's what authorities could prove. If it turns out that Trump owes a lot of money to Russian sources or laundered money for Russian gangsters (which Steve Bannon suspects), that's something anybody can understand.

WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Wednesday that Russia was no longer targeting the United States, contradicting his own intelligence chief and just a day after promising that his administration was working to prevent Kremlin interference in the upcoming midterm elections.
That just goes to show how great Trump is...

A day after saying he would take action to stop Russian interference, Russia has stopped! Lets see Obama have that kind of fast action.

"Congratulations to Martha Roby of The Great State of Alabama on her big GOP Primary win for Congress. My endorsement came appropriately late, but when it came the “flood gates” opened and you had the kind of landslide victory that you deserve. Enjoy!"

I can hear this read in the oily, patronizing, condescending superciliousness of Louise Fletcher's Deep Space Nine character, Kai Winn.

Seems that some detail of the president's 'agreement' may be getting coming in to view

"WH press sec Sanders acknowledged that Putin talked to Trump about his interest in prosecuting financier Bill Browder and former US ambassador Michael McFaul. she declined to rule out US cooperation in that effort, saying Trump would consult his national security team"

President Trump suggested he would be unhappy defending "tiny" Montenegro if it were attacked, calling into question NATO's central principle of mutual defense.

I'm still waiting to hear him over-enunciate the name of the country, much like he did when reminded to say "pooh-air-toe ree-koh". From what I can gather from reporters, the English pronounce it differently from those of us in the US?

White House: Trump open to Russia questioning US citizens

NEW: Sanders says there was "some conversation" between Trump, Putin about possibility of Russia questioning U.S. figures, including former Amb. McFaul, "but there wasn't a commitment made...the president will work with his team and we'll let you know if there's an announcement."

Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a press conference with Trump on Monday that the Kremlin would permit special counsel Robert Mueller’s team to travel to Russia and attend the questioning of 12 Russian intelligence officers indicted in the probe, if Russia is allowed to help interrogate some people “who have something to do with illegal actions on the territory of Russia.”
