Liberal logic:

1) Russian intelligence outplayed American intelligents vis-a-vis the 2016 election.
2) We're supposed to trust the assessment of American intelligents agencies as to what happened over the assessment of Russian agencies.

Might makes right.

Whatever. Remember her e-mails?? She imperiled national security, and now liberals are having a conniption fit because Trump trusts Putin as much as our intelligents agencies.

I forgot Cain. Emails is the GOP's kyrptonite against the Democrats. I think it would take pictures or Putin riding Trump and yelling 'soooweeee' like hillbillies climbing on Ned Beatty for those emails to lose their power.

Who'd a thunk when Trump said he'd be discussing Syria, Crimea and the 2016 election meddling that it'd consists of, "Attaboy!" "Attaboy!" and "How can we do this again in 2020?"

I'd a thunk it. What we saw was exactly what I thought we'd see. To the point where his answers at the press conference at first seemed totally unsurprising.

Then came coverage and various talking-head panels that blasted Trump including many at Fox. I thought Fox would be handling him with kid gloves and praising his skills as a consensus-builder with his eyes firmly on the future. But that would have made them look pretty whack.

It would have been great if someone could have manipulated Trump into publicly apologizing for U.S. actions. Something subtler than "Does America owe Putin an apology?"

Apparently they did have substantive talks about Ukraine and Syria - Putin was able to rattle off all the topics touched on from memory, and I'm not sure Trump was absorbing any of that. Notice that Putin took notes - Trump just showed up, improvised and probably has already forgotten anything that wasn't explicitly about him.

What must Pompeo, Bolton, Coats, Kelly, Mattis be thinking? Maybe something will come out in the next few days. Or they'll act like the meeting never happened. Sarah Sanders should be fun.

GOP Confederate Policy:

  • Clinton emails: Nothingburger lasting what, nine years and counting? Throughout, the FBI were "protecting America." No major evidence of wrongdoing, but "let's keep lynching that n-lover Clinton. Lock her up!"
  • Trump and Russia: A year and a half, and several indictments and convictions forthcoming. Major evidence of definite wrongdoing. Yet no shields up, and complaints the investigation is taking too long, the FBI is "deep state."
Republican intellect and spine: MIA since 2016, and now in Helsinki, KIA. Gotta love all this "winning."

Well there's the figleaf of respectability which will allow the GOP to continue to say that everything is fine.

Isn't that all but saying "well, Russia did interfere in the election but that was a whole 2 years ago, so why should anybody care?"

That is ridiculous, Trump trusts Putin far more than our intelligence agencies.

If you are Trolling you have to exaggerate not understate reality.

Easy we will just trust what ever Putin says Trump agreed to at the time. Simple and it isn't like Trump will say Putin is lying or has any documentation to show otherwise.

"I would rather take a political risk in pursuit of peace, than to risk peace in pursuit of politics"

From a real president the message would be fine. However, this "president" just brought us closer to war. He's called into question our commitment to Article 5 which endangers the NATO members in the near abroad states. War may now seem less of a risk to Putin.
