"Catalogued." Odd that is not what Jeannie Rhee said, and given that they had not translated it all, the claim it was catalogued is a lie.

"I said, 'How do you know what's in it?' " Dubelier told the judge, referring to the massive amount of online data in Russian. "They didn't want to talk to me anymore."

Pure data dump, oldest trick in the book.

Oh, well, I mean. If their lawyer said it then I guess it has to be true, right? We obviously can't trust Mueller as far as we will throw him, but you guys will believe anything and everything from the accused.

Just on a side note, per CNN:

The amount of data prosecutors have in the case will play into the attempt Concord Management has made to review all documents as soon as possible and force a trial by summer.

"We're going to get this massive dump of social media stuff that's in Russian," Dubelier told the judge. "This is an American court."

Rhee countered that some but not all of the data in Russian had been translated by the government's team, and that it was "voluminous" evidence of Concord Management's conduct and own statements. The data included email and other accounts, she said, that spoke to the internal operations of the alleged conspiracy.

"It is not a data dump, your honor," she said.

It's debatable is how I see it. They want everything, he's giving them the beginning of that, and they're Russian. They don't speak their own language? Why is what you're saying at odds with what they're saying? Which one of you doesn't know what they're talking about?

well that did not take to long to walk back the lie that the documents (almost all of which are in Russian, and not all translated) were "catalogued."

document dumps are bad, and bragging that you are going to just dump the stuff on a criminal defendant is worse.

Moving on, I posted some of this in the Kennedy thread, there's overlap.
Snopes: Did Anthony Kennedy Resign from the Supreme Court to Protect His Son?
The 81-year-old justice's resignation announcement triggered a spate of conspiracy posts focused on his son's connections to Donald Trump and Deutsche Bank.

... Newsweek: Is Donald Trump’s Dark Russian Secret Hiding in Deutsche Bank’s Vaults?

Trump had a huge loan outstanding to Deutsche bank. He defaulted after the 2008 crash. The bank sued. Trump countersued claiming the bank was part of the cause of the crash. At some point the bank loaned Trump money to pay the outstanding bank loan. Yes, that's what the Newsweek article says, followed by this:
The loans to Trump weren’t the only abnormal behavior at Deutsche. Around the same time he received his new line of credit, the bank was laundering money, according to the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS). Russian money. Billions of dollars that flowed from Moscow to London, then from London to New York—part of a scheme for which European and American regulators eventually punished the bank.

And there's this:
Other investment banks based in Moscow were chagrined and suspected that Deutsche owed its success to its alliance with Russian state interests. “They were doing some very curious things,” says Christopher Barter, the CEO of Goldman Sachs Moscow at the time. “Nobody could make sense of their business. We found the nature and concentration of their business with VTB quite galling. Nobody else could touch VTB.”Everyone in Moscow understood that VTB was more than a bank. It had ties to Russian intelligence. Putin’s Federal Security Service (FSB) spy chief, Nikolai Patrushev, and his successor, Alexander Bortnikov, both sent their sons to work at VTB. The bank’s deputy chief executive, Vasily Titov, chaired the FSB’s public council...

After the crash, Barter says, he was approached by “broker types, not very senior,” seeking to do large, unexplained volumes of trades with Goldman Sachs. These were on behalf of major Russian clients. The brokers declined to identify their counterparties. Their names were concealed beneath “shell company after shell company,” Barter says, making a due diligence impossible. He turned this business down “in five seconds.”
Goldman Sachs refused to get involved but Deutsche Bank apparently didn't.
The same entities approached Wiswell and company, and got better results. Between 2011 and February 2015, Wiswell presided over a money-laundering scheme run from the equities desk of Deutsche Bank’s Moscow office, according to a report from the DFS, and more than $10 billion was shifted from Russia to the West. The method was simple but effective. In Moscow, a Russian client bought blue-chip Russian stocks from Deutsche Bank Moscow in companies like Gazprom or Sberbank. The payments were in rubles. The size of a typical order was $2 million to $3 million. Shortly afterward, a non-Russian “customer” sold exactly the same number of securities to Deutsche Bank in London, paying in dollars.

And here Bernie had people convinced Clinton was corrupt because she did business with Goldman Sachs.

But I digress...
While this was going on, Deutsche Bank in New York was lending hundreds of millions of dollars to the future American president, a man known to be litigious and a credit risk. My Guardian colleague Nick Hopkins and I wanted to find out if Trump’s loans and the money-laundering scandal were connected. But Deutsche Bank stonewalled us; its policy was to say nothing about its clients, including the president.

In Flynn's case, he was allegedly paid by the government of Turkey to represent its interests to the U.S. government. The Foreign Agents Registration Act requires that people acting in such a capacity "disclose their relationship with the foreign government and information about related activities and finances." The penalty for violating the FARA is, at absolute worst, 5 years in prison.

Flynn did not register.

Flynn has not been charged for this, even though federal prosecutors made note of this alleged violation in court filings that were made along with he plea deal.

Point of order...

The attorneys are not Russian.

I didn't walk anything back. How do you think they know it's relevant to the investigation if they didn't catalog it? You didn't show anything to say that it wasn't.

Also, it specifically says in my link that it's not a data dump by one of the people involved. Why are you willing to believe the Russian's lawyer more willingly than the American prosecutor? Why do you hate America?

ETA: TBD, you don't even know the difference between a bit and a byte. For all that is good, avid readers of this thread should not take ANYTHING you say about technology with any seriousness at all unless it's confirmed by multiple sources. Even then, your translation will generally be off, and misdirected.

The lawyer who just threatened to do a document dump says it is not a document dump, sure most of the documents are in Russian, but no, totes no dump, not categorized at all (remember that lie?) most not translated, but not a dump. Pinky swear.

To quote a poster here:

"Oh, well, I mean. If their lawyer said it then I guess it has to be true, right?"

Can a brother get a laughing dog!!

Just like you claiming that it is a document dump, with absolutely nothing other than the whiny words from the other attorney. Do you not see your hypocrisy here?

sure most of the documents are in Russian,

Honest question, I don't know the answer, but is it the government's job to translate it? I'm not sure.

but no, totes no dump, not categorized at all (remember that lie?) most not translated, but not a dump. Pinky swear.

Sweet lingo fam, does talking like a teen totes make your posts make more sense to you and your friends? You know the reason why I used "categorized"? Because it's on a thumb drive. There is literally no way it can't be categorized. It's a searchable format that you can type in dates, names, handles, anything you want and it'll pull up anything that matches. Any way they'd like to look at the data, they can. The fact you actually know nothing about technology, yet still drive to be as snarky as possible, is outstanding. It's just a blast to watch.

You bet, but it'd be in your direction because that's a mirror of your argument.

 So yeah, I'm not an IT person or anything, but why do you think that a bunch of files being on a thumb drive are by definition categorized? That hasn't been my experience - when I copy a crap-ton of files onto a thumb drive, they're only categorized (in any reasonably normal sense of the term) if they were already categorized before I copied them onto the drive. I have yet to find a thumb drive that indexes, sorts, orders, and tags all my files for me while copying them. Where can I get this device, because I seriously need one of those.

This is why I can't talk tech with people who didn't use DOS.

Simply put, the interface handles all of these things transparently for you. Your not being aware of it doesn't make it not so.

Of course Mueller isn't going to say he's not ready to prosecute, but that's obviously the case. The reason to delay a case because of problems with the summons is if the defense isn't ready to proceed because problems with the summons delayed the defendant from being notified in time to prepare. But the defense is ready. It's a joke that Mueller is asking for a delay basically on their behalf when they don't want one. That's why his motion was denied.

Aren't you one the people who routinely complains about your opponents interpreting information beyond what's explicitly stated?

On this board, with rare exception not applicable here, what is stated is the full extent of available information about other members.

That is not the case with Mueller. We also have access to his actions.

I don't understand the people on this thread that appear to be defending the investigation into Russian (and other foreign) agencies interfering with their democracy.

If the Russians have been interfering then they are doing it for their benefit, not the USA - obviously. And, if it turns out that USA officials were involved, in my opinion that's treasonous (I don't know if it is, but it should be imo).

If you are a real "patriot" you should be wanting the investigation to be full and complete, no stone unturned to ensure your state is secure, even if it means your top man, despite how much you like his politics, goes down for it.

If, in fact as the Trumpsters keep saying, there's nothing to it, then there is nothing to worry about either.

If Trump really is innocent, he would be better of publicly endorsing the investigation and weeding out anyone who appears to have been involved with any illegal activity uncovered. He would come off as a much more courageous and stand up man. At the moment he is acting like a guilty man and it wouldn't surprise me if he was up to his neck in it.

Your democracy and constitution is what makes "aMerica Great" and it should be defended at ALL cost.

Amazing evasion of the point. Very graceful.

Generally speaking that's correct. There is nothing special about a thumb drive over other storage devices - to some extend it also depends on how it was formatted.

However, in both Mac and windows it is possible to add 'tags' to categorize files that stay with the document when it's copied. These tags can be searched too.

There are other ways of categorizing (I have no idea if they were in this case). The files names can be used to identify content, dates, category etc. Also files could be categorized into different directories - a whole structure if required.

It is also possible to have an index file. Human readable file that could have been manually or electronically created that identifies all the other files by location/file name, tag words, dates and possible some type of category code.

So there are many ways that the information was already categorized and that information would be copied with the files from it's source onto a thumb drive, it's not rocket science.

However, in both Mac and windows it is possible ...

Possible, not mandatory or automatic. Nothing you describe is mandatory or automatic. And the earlier suggestions from others that the files are categorized merely because the interface can search them is laughable.

Who cares if it's true if it keeps the cloud hanging over the president?

How many undecided voters believed Clinton engaged in malfeasance over Uranium One? Just keep flogging the story and it doesn't have to be true to work.

Amazing evasion of the point. Very graceful.

You made a bull **** comparison. I called you on your bull **** comparison. That isn't an evasion. But your lack of any substantive response is, in fact, an evasion.

It's also projection.
