The Trump Presidency VII

Re: Trump and violence...

Why am I surprised, he did it all the time on the campaign trail
"I'd like to punch him in the face."
"Knock the crap out of them."
"Maybe he should have been roughed up."
"Try not to hurt him. If you do, I'll defend you in court, don't worry about it."
‏"Knock the crap out of them, I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees"
And don't forget the favorite one from during the election...

Hillary wants to abolish -- essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know

The secret service had a little talk with Trump over that one.

I can't open their site on my crappy mobile & Chrome... too much traffic. No surprise. And their Yelp page is a mess... lots of cleanup to do before they stop monitoring the comments.

I've never heard of the joint. Though I have eaten in many roadside establishments... I was just using greasy spoon/diner as a generalization. I shouldn't have... I don't have Sarah's budget. :D

This is the odd part.
You're intimating something. I have no idea what.
Can you be explicit?

(sorry for the extra linefeeds... it's a TapaCrap bug... I mean feature. :( )

I'm not intimating anything sinister. It is just a matter of curiosity when a senior official is seen off the beaten track, just as movie stars are noted when they show up at ball games and Broadway shows. It would be interesting to know whether she has relatives in the area, whether she's connected to a kid in one of the colleges, whether she's looking for a job, whether she's doing campaign work for the next election, etc., etc. I think it's a matter of public interest that Trump has spent enormous amounts of time at his resorts and golf clubs, at huge taxpayer expense. I think we are all entitled to know how much public money Scott Pruitt has spent on his personal services -- and a dozen investigations are underway. We want to know what we can about what motivates our officials. If she took a week off and spent it binge-watching "Game of Thrones" at Camp David, we'd be interested in knowing that too.

Trump Tweets

"Congresswoman Maxine Waters, an extraordinarily low IQ person, has become, together with Nancy Pelosi, the Face of the Democrat Party. She has just called for harm to supporters, of which there are many, of the Make America Great Again movement. Be careful what you wish for Max!"

IS that threat of violence from the President of the USA to a political opponent?

Maxine Walters and Trump deserve each other, frankly.

Both are notorious for over the top rhetoric to fire up their supporters.

Lexington is not as off the beaten track as you think. What of "SMall Towns in the Shenandoah Valley are full of weekenders from DC in spring and summer" don't you get. Maybe someone fro NYC driving out to the Hamptons is a good comparasion.
And, yes I have been to Lexington, Virginia . Nice little with nice scenary, and quite a few B and B's for the overnight trade.
Also something of a attraction for Civil War buffs because of who is buried at VMI and Washington and Lee College...

Eyes on the prize, folks. Main goal is to win in November. Anything that makes the Dems look radical plays into Trump and the GOP's hands. blwong this election is a high price to play for indulgning in some street theater.

So, these concentration camps are dirty (new info) and poorly run (we knew that). We should hire judges rather than just immediately deporting people at this idiot's sayso (obvious).

And yeah, his wall is pointless theatrics. Again, we knew that.
I have mixed feelings about Trump turning up the hatred/rage to 11. He really thinks you can seal the border like a ham sandwich in Tupperware. I wonder if people are beginning to get that the wall is a distraction that does nothing and uses resources that could be spent better on genuine border security. But Trump is all about the gesture and not at all about the follow-up. He just doesn't do that. As long his supporters know that he wants a wall I don't think he actually cares whether it's ever built. He just likes to call for it all the time.

The owner of the restaurant is not an operative of the DNC. They were just trying to help their employees.

Pruitt is beginning to strike me as a full-blown paranoiac not quite tethered to reality. His little scams are so bizarrely petty. They sound almost like cover for some *bigger* scam involving bribes and millions of dollars. The guy is apparently barely breaking even in his job.

ANd Walters has created a massive distraction from the Immigrant issue. Noce going, Maxine. She has been an embarassament for the Dems for years, sort of bizarro version of
Steve King of Iowa.

After Lewandowski's womp womp comment, Trump treated him to a trip to Las Vegas on AF-1 and some GOP dinner where Cory was applauded.

MSNBC Pundit John Heilemann: [paraphrasing only slightly] "It wasn't that these people were harassed in public because of their political views. It wasn't until they locked up kids in cages. ... Trump isn't the leader of the country, he's the leader of a faction."

He really thinks you can seal the border like a ham sandwich in Tupperware.
Speaking of the wall... Looks like the Trump administration has already started to work towards seizing land in order to build the wall.

Figures... they are completely incompetent in planning on how to re-unite parents and children, but seizing land to build an ineffective and overpriced wall? They're all over it!

Well, if it means anything, a recent poll put support for the wall at 41%, and opposition around 57%. (Which roughly breaks down along the lines of Trump approval/disapproval numbers.)

It should also be noted that a majority of people support DACA and so-called "chain migration", both things that Trump has acted against.

I'm not intimating anything sinister. ...

Maybe it was just your phrasing... "there had to be some reason she went to that restaurant" (paraphrased).

Seems mildly suggestive, if not actually sinister (is she even left-handed?). [emoji14]

She's the alt-reality C.J. Cregg. I don't really care too much about her, even GoT marathons at Camp David.
But maybe she got a SS agent because of threats (no surprise there)... maybe she wants to bang the guy (good for her).
I wouldn't suggest however an evening in NYC for a performance of Hamilton. :D

(should I have spoilered that? j/k ;) )

Trump promised that Mexico would pay for the wall.

I'd like to hear any supporter defend the attempts to get congress to put up the money (much less to rip families apart as negotiational hostages)

Of course, the answer is they knew he was ********ting and didn't care.

I suspect their response will either be:
- We Trust that Trump will get the money from Mexico eventually (i.e. some sort of bizarre denial)
- It doesn't matter if Mexico doesn't pay, we still need it to protect white people from the evil brown people (ignoring the fact that the white people are probably more at risk from other white people.)

(much less to rip families apart as negotiational hostages)
America first. You can abuse anyone else.

I missed the part where Waters advocated state violence against people based on skin color, or putting children into detention centers that were deliberately kept extremely cold.

Also, any news where black idiots beat up a white family and then shout "Waters! Waters! Waters!" at them that you could share?

My guess is, she's been the recipient of far more rape and lynching threats than her supporters haver sent out, because I live in the US and I know how these things usually go here. But if you have reason to suspect otherwise, I'm willing to listen.

ETA: I guess it comes down to a simple fact: Dolt 45 is the most overtly bigoted president in my lifetime, and is using his power to promote outright supremacism and authoritarianism. Ordinary supporters might simply be deeply deluded or ignorant, but let's give these administrators (Particularly Sanders - we all know that Miller's a white nationalist, and Sessions is a white supremacist) the benefit of the doubt. Until they give us reason to believe otherwise, let's assume that they are not deeply disconnected from reality due to mental illness, and they aren't so grossly incompetent to be distracted from noticing this obvious state-enforced bigotry by their work and family lives, when their work necessarily requires them to deal with Dolt 45 directly.

As I said before, Sanders could simply have not taken the job to begin with. Sessions and the like are exactly where they want to be to promote their bigotry using government levers, so why assume anything different for her?

Call for it? According to Trump its already being built.
