Glasgow School of Art Mackintosh Building on fire again

A large fire has broken out at Glasgow School of Art in the city centre.

Fire crews are currently tackling the blaze in the school's Mackintosh Building.

The building was ravaged by fire in May 2014 and a multi-million pound restoration project had been underway.

I had foolishly assumed fire protection had been improved. There needs to be an inquiry. We need to know if this was preventable, and whether heads should roll.


I know the project manager, but expect that she doesn't want to hear from me today.

Word on the ground us 90% of tbe interior gone, no info on the envelope stability.

Some guy on Twitter getting pelters for saying, "It's their new installation: Grenfell cladding" which is actually quite funny in a black humour sort of way.

The pictures I saw a few minutes ago suggest the walls may still be standing. I don't see how there can be anything left of the interior. I wouldn't be surprised if they have to demolish and rebuild.
