Errr, You recall wrong.

They didn't even coin the term. That honor goes to Valeriano Weyler, who, while Governor of Cuba in 1896, herded Cuban families into "reconcentrados" where they died in droves due to abuse and neglect.

The U.S. liked the idea and General J. Franklin Bell used it to even greater effect in the Philippines a few years later, adding torture and mass executions to the recipe.

Then came the British in South Africa, where they simply Anglicized the term.

Of course the U.S. had been doing it for many decades before that. The preferred euphemism then, though, was "reservation".

No it’s the other way around. My side is dealing with it. Your side has ignored it for years. Looks like the Dems are the ones uncomfortable with it. But Dems usually do exacerbate an issue till it’s about to blow up.
 
I'd like to know this about the Trumpettes: How widely travelled? Ever get out of town? County? State? Country? Would there be a correlation whereby the more fanatical are those who've traveled least?

I happen to think that increased exposure to a wider horizon in one's world tends to foster and enhance knowledge, understanding, perspective, tolerance, wisdom.
