The Trump Presidency VII

A country of great scientists and technolgists founded in and touting enlightenment liberalist ideals has come to be controlled by a dumbass wannabe authoritarian leader.

What a shame.

Exactly. A nation derived by Jefferson, Madison, Paine, Franklin, Adams is being destroyed by the likes of Goebbels, Bohrman, Himmler, Goeth and Goring. Concentration camps in America. I never imagined such a day.

Its a democratic republic.
And better to be a leftist than a sleazoid who would separate children from their parents.

Maybe those loser parents ought to have a little more responsibility with their children. Oh that’s right, they already know their children are in better hands. Maybe that’s why they send so many ALONE!
Make me ashamed of my country.

I’m never ashamed of this country, it’s the best it’s ever been!

Is there a Biblical parable for that? Maybe a quote attributed to Jesus?

The stupid and selfish are inheriting the earth. Good times!

Wow! Parents doing everything they can to make a better life for themselves and their children. I doubt I ever read a more shameful and unchristian post. Like I said, makes me ashamed of my country.

How does one live with themself with this kind of hatred and lack of compassion?

I'm an atheist and clearly I'm a better Christian than some who professed to be Christians.

For I was an hungry, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

And Christ said, Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye did it not to one of the least of my brethren, ye did it not to me.

Nowhere does Jesus say that i should judge people from other nations or without wealth or without homes as losers and treat them like cattle.

Feel free to cite chapter and verse to me Logger. I know as a Christian, you will want to set me on the right path.

Making a better life for their children causes them to throw them into a strangers hands? Wouldn’t it be better to immigrate the legal way?

I wonder if it’s possible for you to refrain from personal attacks?

The selling out of American Christian principles is fascinating. It started well before Trump but has now really jumped the shark. If you are taking it personally perhaps its time for reflection.

Play around you'll find something: #resistance

#BlueWave2018

#:rule10:Trump

Since the board censored the address, if you put the word back in you get #youknowwhatTrump.

WOrth pointing out that pretty much every representative, organization, and media figure has his/her own twitter feed, some more official than others. It's not hard at all to find and follow Pelosi, Sanders, Schumer, your own rep and senators, the DNC, IHOb

...wait, that's another topic.

Corey Booker, Paul Ryan, or whoever to say what they (or their approved staff members) have to say about anything.

"They don't have a single voice" is pretty much what always happens when a party doesn't have the presidency, and the president is generally seen as the, singular, party spokesman, and Twitter can't, and never will, change this. It's the nature of our government. It's kinda fun to watch "We don't like it, but I won't stop it" jellyfish like Ryan get cussed out by a vast array of democrats, musicians, movie stars, pundits, journalists, and so forth.

Laws are important to follow, that is also important to Christians. That’s because terrible things can happen when laws are broken. What these people are doing to their children is selfish and greedy. They want to steal their spot when they can go through the legal ways of coming here. Sure it’s hard work, we’re allmused to that. We’re alsomused to people who want what they want and nothing will get in the way.

You can continue to insult my faith but you’re wasting your time.

It's funny, I'm watching Experimenter, about Stanley Milgram. His Obedience to Authority experiments have interesting parallels to Trump sycophants. I wonder how many will finally stop and say "All right, enough is enough."

Any parallells to Reagan, Clinton, Obama sycophants?

It’s the hypocrisy of much of the American Christian political machine that I am criticising/insulting.

“A righteous man knows the rights of the poor; a wicked man does not understand such knowledge.” Is a fine sentiment. As are Jesus’ teachings on kindness towards the less fortunate. The social Darwinist and prosperity gospel taint in American Christianity is sick.

Religious leaders are not on board with this separating families stunt. And I suspect logger is just winding you all up. By his own admission, that's his usual agenda.

Kind of depends on whether someone at home is trying to kill you.

Sessions referred to Romans chapter 13 to justify government cruelty. True, the first few verses claim that whatever any government ever does, it's fine by Gawd. But did he continue reading ch. 13? The very next thing it says is that all just laws follow from the prime maxime: Love the next person as you love yourself.

Perhaps any christian in this thread can explain who tearing children from their parents and putting them in concentration camps is loving as you love yourselves? Of course you won't, because you can't.

I just came across this, written by Alan Jacobs:

The lesson to be drawn here is this: the great majority of Christians in America who call themselves evangelical are simply not formed by Christian teaching or the Christian scriptures. They are, rather, formed by the media they consume — or, more precisely, by the media that consume them. The Bible is just too difficult, and when it’s not difficult it is terrifying. So many Christians simply act tribally, and when challenged to offer a Christian justification for their positions typically grope for a Bible verse or two, with no regard for its context or even its explicit meaning. Or summarize a Sunday-school story that they clearly don’t understand, as when they compare Trump to King David because both sinned without even noticing that David’s penitence was even more extravagant than his sins while Trump doesn’t think he needs to repent of anything. But hey, as a Trump supporter once wrote to me: “Now we are fused with him.”
