The Trump Presidency VII

Criticism from former GOP politicians, whilst interesting, is irrelevant. Unless real criticism, and in particular actual constraint of his actions, comes from the current GOP then it's irrelevant.
Something we're quite unlikely to see, bar the outlies such as Flake or McCain.

An interesting article on the subject, courtesy of The Grauniad: How Trump captured the Republican party

Tellingly, it ends on:
Another viewpoint was recently expressed by Ryan’s predecessor, John Boehner. “There is no Republican party,” the former House speaker said during a policy conference in Michigan. “There’s a Trump party.

“The Republican party is kind of taking a nap somewhere.”

I wouldn't go so far as to say either is irrelevant.

Trumplethinskin threw out the baby with the bath water because.... Trudeau said something mean, wahhhhh !

He can dish it out, but he can't take it.

That's fine, not a problem at all for the rest of the civilized world.

The G6 will move forward with their alliances, cutting deals and trades with each other while the US sits and pouts in a corner. C'est la vie.

In other words, the rest of the world will continue to move forward in the 21st century boosting up each other in an inevitable global economic system (whether the child-in-chief likes it or not), while the US gets left behind in the dust.

Rome is burning... and Trump plays his fiddle.
It’s fascinating how your side reads it.

Angela Merkel, back from Canada, was just interviewed on national ARD TV (the German equivalence of the BBC) by Anne Will.

I bring this up here because it struck me intensely by what a YUGE margin she is better briefed, more intelligent, quick witted, language-adept, diplomatic and sincere than Trump. Anne Will came well prepared and asked tough questions, often insisting if an answer was a bit evasive. Merkel very obviously knows what she is talking about, has a plethora of detailed information on all the important projects her government is working on, knows in details what her departments are doing and why, she throws no one under the bus even if she expresses disagreements or even disappointment and frustration with someone (the latter two she did with regard to Trump - and later said that she almost never uses such strong words), but stresses again and again the need to keep talking even and especially when the going gets rough. Plus, in the entire interview, she made not a single claim that I suspected or knew to be false or misconstrued. No euphemisms. (She certainly cherry-picks facts, and downplays problems, but not in an overtly dishonest fashion.)

The contrast to the illiterate, bumbling, asocial child in the White House could hardly be greater.

President Trump's economic and trade adviser Peter Navarro told FOX News Sunday regarding President Trump's G-7 feud with Canadian PM Justin Trudeau: "There’s a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door...that’s what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference."

Linky. (Emphasis mine.)

Trump seems to be good at one thing. Tearing things and people down. It's one hell of a lot easier to destroy treaties than to create one. The man is ignorant, petulant and is entirely lacking in diplomatic skills. Putin couldn't have appointed a better President for the United States. That is if your goal is to create disharmony here and with our allies.

Lol

As he continues to erase what your side accomplished.
Well, lets see...

Under Obama the U.S. had:
- 75 straight months of job growth (a total of 17 million more jobs existed at the end of his term than the beginning)
- 92 months of bull markets for stocks
- The number of people without health care dropped by roughly 15 million (and premiums rose more slowly on average)
- Average wages rose 4% after inflation
- The poverty rate went down by 0.5%
- The violent crime rate is down 16%
- One Dead Bin Laden

https://www.factcheck.org/2017/09/obamas-final-numbers/

So if Trump is going to undo whatever Obama did, can we expect: more people to be unemployed, lower wages, more violent crime, and a decrease in the stock market? Yeah, I'd believe that. (And does that mean that Trump is going to find a way to resurrect Bin Laden?)

He should be so proud of himself.

'Look Ma, I just tore down Barry's building.'

Really Donny and why did you do that?

'I didn't like him'

Why don't you like him?

'Everybody liked him and nobody likes me. Plus he has funny colored skin'.

But his building was nice and people liked it.

'I know. That's why I tore it down.

Are you going to build them a better building Donny?

No Ma, Its so much more fun to destroy and hurt people'.

It's nice to see Trump standing up to the evil and corrupt governments of Canada and Germany. We can forge new alliances with Italy, Russia, China, and North Korea.

Unless trump has a High level Cleric, or a necromancer on staff, he'll be unable to erase Obama's Legacy. Osama will still be dead.

Actually I sometimes wonder if Putin is a little bit taken aback himself. Trump's crashing around is so obvious. Putin may want "disharmony" but outright acrimony? Does it help Putin/Russia for Trump to act so petulant and capricious? Having the U.S. advocate for Russia is neutralized if the U.S. totally loses credibility.

It might be hard to strategize against someone so lacking in strategy.

More outright craziness: Trump tears up all his papers. So to comply with federal recordkeeping laws, staffers are paid to tape the pieces back together.
Armed with rolls of clear Scotch tape, Lartey and his colleagues would sift through large piles of shredded paper and put them back together, he said, “like a jigsaw puzzle.” Sometimes the papers would just be split down the middle, but other times they would be torn into pieces so small they looked like confetti.

It was a painstaking process that was the result of a clash between legal requirements to preserve White House records and President Donald Trump’s odd and enduring habit of ripping up papers when he’s done with them — what some people described as his unofficial “filing system.”

Seems like the obvious solution would be to pay someone to make a copy of everything before it gets to Trump, then file the copy. Or keep the original and give him the copy. Chances are he won't know the difference.

It seems pretty clear that Putin wanted Clinton to lose more than he wanted Trump to win. He can't have predicted Trump's lunacy, although he probably sees the Western Alliance turning against itself as a bonus.

Obama’s anemic economy will be forgotten, same as erasing that terrible time from people’s memory. Replaced by read economic growth, the kind that goes way beyond keeping even with the work force. ;)

Hopefully the loser libs won’t get in the way.

Lol, outright craziness? Now that is hilarious. You realize no one cares?

Anemic? It was a total disaster when he took over and it was roaring when he left.
