The Trump Presidency VII

He also said that he wanted to talk about who to pardon with kneeling NFL player.

This, of course, entirely misses the point of the protests, which is against state violence and mistreatment of minorities, particularly black Americans - he could begin by recreating the civil rights boards his administration has dismantled, ordering the DoJ to move away from private prisons and police militarization, begin a national database of police shootings, pushing for a return to the ban on racial discrimination in auto loans that he just got rid of, ordering the DoJ to explain what exactly "Black Identity Extremists" are, begin pursuing actions against discriminatory or overly violent police forces (Mesa AZ would be a great place to start), rescinding his order for the FBI to stop monitoring white supremacist groups, pushing for bail reform, pursuing all possible avenues in aiding Puerto Rico, fulfill his funding pledge to HBCUs, and stop pushing voter suppression.

Also, the following people need to be fired: Stephen Miller, Ben Carson, Betsy Devos, Scott Pruitt, Steve Mnuchin, John Bolton, and Jeff Sessions as soon as Mueller is done, and not one second before - and keep a short leash on that proto-klansman until then. Also, stop listening to Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Breitbart, Alex Jones, Fox & Friends, and that ridiculous "judge" that always talks like Macho Man Randy Savage. Matter of fact, dump Laura Inghram as well. He can schedule time to listen to Shep Smith if he must watch something from Fox News

At that point, I'll say "Well, he's starting to reform from that ugly white supremacist first year and 5 months he had."

I wonder if these pardons, besides making Trump feel Trumpy, aren't a precursor to pardoning Manafort, Flynn and the rest of the batch? No doubt he's been advised, pardon these guys and Mueller is going to be adding to those obstruction charges.

We have seen it in the 180° turn the Europeans did from their relationship with the US administration from Bush jr to Obama. The shift from Trump to his successor will be even more dramatic.
But until then Trump will have a hard time getting anyone to make any kind of commitments to a deal with the US.

He’s obliterating the lefts agenda, I’m certainly going to cheer him on.

Those damn leftists have always hated Russia, it’s about time someone put them in their place by promoting Russian interests in the US!

Except if they think they can somehow roll Trump....

That would be too short-sighted: Trump constantly believes that others are trying to take advantage of him: he is not above retaliation even against perceived slights.

Bribery, on the other hand, seems to work fine.

Though even there, you might have the problem of "We bought the SOB, but the SOB won't stay bought".

OT

Heavens no.
I was actually reading up on Kaiser Wilhelm and the parallels are amazing in number and accuracy with Trump. It's basically the same person, which is why its so frustrating with the sycophants of his. All of this stuff has been played out before, many times. They're just too scared to admit it.
I was reading Robert Massie's Dreadnought last month and thinking the same thing. The one major difference might be that the Kaiser could at least give the appearance of genuine kindness at times, unlike Trump.

Tweets from the President concerning G7

"Looking forward to straightening out unfair Trade Deals with the G-7 countries. If it doesn’t happen, we come out even better!"

"Canada charges the U.S. a 270% tariff on Dairy Products! They didn’t tell you that, did they? Not fair to our farmers!"

"Why isn’t the European Union and Canada informing the public that for years they have used massive Trade Tariffs and non-monetary Trade Barriers against the U.S. Totally unfair to our farmers, workers & companies. Take down your tariffs & barriers or we will more than match you!"

"Canada charges the U.S. a 270% tariff on Dairy Products! They didn’t tell you that, did they? Not fair to our farmers!"

Of course, Trump is ignoring 2 facts:

- Canada is currently running a trade deficit with the U.S. Does Trump really want to change that?

- America currently subsidizes its dairy industry by about $22 billion/year. (See: https://www.newswire.ca/news-releas...depend-on-government-subsidies-673374473.html) So we have quotas, and the U.S. dumps tons of cash on its farmers. Looks like neither side is "fighting fair".

If it's better to not straighten out trade deals, why do it at all?
