The Trump Presidency VII

It’s that true of Republicans in general thee days? Democrats use the facts to determine what side they are on, Republicans use what side they are on to determine the “facts”
I assume you say that with a straight face and fully believe it. In my opinion both "sides" are pretty similar.
I'll tell you what... the moment the Democrats start blaming Global Warming on "Chinese hoaxes" or anything similar, then perhaps people here will start considering both sides as pretty similar.

Until then, while the Democrats may not be perfect, they have been (at least for the past few years) been the party that is more attuned to both morality and basic facts.

I think that is an absurd viewpoint. I wish they were farther apart on some of the issues, but there are some very clear differences. See the latest 5 to 4 Supreme Court decisions. One of which weakens the power of labor even further reversing 80 years of labor law and today's decision which allows and empowers discrimination based on sexual preference.

Some other examples off the top of my head:

Republicans think they can keep spending on the most expensive government programs and cut taxes without increasing the deficit.

Instead of looking for any sort of balance, Republicans invariably want to eliminate regulation without regard to it’s impact on market efficiency or risk.

Republicans like to float “entitlement reform” where people no longer have to pay into social security but insist they are not going to make any significant cut to benefits. (or they promise to cut someone else’s benefits)

Republicans promise health insurance guarantees against limiting access to people with pre-existing conditions and protection against dropping people with expensive but have no realistic plan to deal with free riders.

Anyone else remember Republicans voting to buy new Military vehicles in spite of the army saying it had thousands of them, unused, in mothballs?

“Build a wall!!!”

Foreign powers meddling in US elections? No problem, nothing to see here.

It’s Socialism!

It’s Communism!

Bring back the gold standard and audit the Fed!

Disagree, the worlds major super power relying on other countries is, well, ridiculous.

That doesn't have anything to do with what i just said.

Again: in order to come to the conclusion that steel and aluminium imports from Canada and Mexico (just to take the most egregious cases here) is a threat to the national security of the US, you would have to rely on the assumption that they cannot be relied upon to maintain good enough relations for such trade to continue during a state of war.

If anything Trump's rhetoric and hostility towards Americas traditional allies is a far greater threat to Americas national security than international trade could ever be.

Not that I've seen in years of reading your posts.

Q.Do you agree Trump is a habitual liar?

Q. Do you agree Trump is a cheat?

Q. Do you agree that Trump is untrustworthy?

Q.Do you agree that Trump doesn't have Christian values?

Q.Do you agree that Trump is a sleaze?

And please answer the questions without referring to either Bill or Hillary Clinton, or Barack Obama.

Lol

That is the most hilarious thing I’ve seen all week. Nothing but personal insults. Nothing about policy, nothing about ideas. There is no way to have a reasonable discussion when you’re demanding answers to that, I love it! Thanks.

Some tweets from the Pres

"Farmers have not been doing well for 15 years. Mexico, Canada, China and others have treated them unfairly. By the time I finish trade talks, that will change. Big trade barriers against U.S. farmers, and other businesses, will finally be broken. Massive trade deficits no longer!"

"The U.S. has made such bad trade deals over so many years that we can only WIN!"

"China already charges a tax of 16% on soybeans. Canada has all sorts of trade barriers on our Agricultural products. Not acceptable!"

"This is my 500th. Day in Office and we have accomplished a lot - many believe more than any President in his first 500 days. Massive Tax & Regulation Cuts, Military & Vets, Lower Crime & Illegal Immigration, Stronger Borders, Judgeships, Best Economy & Jobs EVER, and much more..."

"....We had Repeal & Replace done (and the saving to our country of one trillion dollars) except for one person, but it is getting done anyway. Individual Mandate is gone and great, less expensive plans will be announced this month. Drug prices coming down & Right to Try!"

"The appointment of the Special Counsel is totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL! Despite that, we play the game because I, unlike the Democrats, have done nothing wrong!"

Criminey sakes!

In ww2 we were running out of steel, if Canada and Mexico desperately need their steel in a time of war, you can possibly understand the impact on the US? Not to mention the price? Again it is ridiculous for the most important country in the world to not have a robust manufacturing base and relying on other third world nations!

China Buys Record Amount of Russian Soy as It Shuns U.S. Growers

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...amount-of-russian-soy-as-it-shuns-u-s-growers

China, the world’s biggest soybean importer, almost tripled purchases from Russia amid a trade dispute with the U.S., the biggest producer.

Russia sold about 850,000 metric tons of soybeans to China from the start of the 12-month season in July through mid-May, according to Russia’s agriculture agency Rosselkhoznadzor. That’s more than during any season before and compares with about 340,000 tons sold during all of the previous period.

China has already canceled several shipments from the U.S. in anticipation of tariffs on the country’s products. While Brazil is expected to take much of that market share, Russia is also benefiting.

Winning that Trade War!

Wait, let's start with the first one.

You seriously don't think that Trump is a habitual liar? His first official lie was on inauguration day (or the morning thereafter?).

How many clearly false statements should we cite in order for you to reconsider? Okay, maybe you think it's not a lie if it's not known to be false, but the only solace there is that you get to claim Trump is remarkably ignorant for a head of state, but not a liar.

That's not a threat to national security.

Steel (or any other kind of good) produced in Canada or Mexico can quite safely be transported to anywhere in the continental USA because of plenty of land routes. Because of this, to suggest that steel imports from Mexico or Canada is a threat to national security would imply that those countries would embargo the US and refuse to export any steel there.

Essentially Trump and the American government is saying that they don't trust the Canadians or Mexicans to remain friendly towards the US. That is why Trudeau is perfectly correct to see Trump's tariffs, especially in how they are justified, as offensive and hostile towards Canada considering how close they have been politically and economically.

And thanks to trumpf, that is fast becoming the reality....

Trump is NOT an habitual liar? Seriously? You think this is simply just an insult and not an empirical fact?

You don't think he cheated the Students of Trump University? How about his first wife? How about his second wife? How about Melanie? How about his bond holders and investors? How about vendors he refused to pay and demanded steep discounts after they provided their goods and services?

You think he has been trustworthy? Seriously?

Trump is NOT a sleaze? You think cheating on your spouse with a porn star days after she gave birth to his son is upstanding? You think men should rape their wives? You think men should hang out in women's changing rooms is ok? You think all us men should just 'grab them by the pussy'?

Hmmm

You think men should hang out in women's changing rooms is ok?

** With underage girls in various states of undress.

Listen, trump is by any measure the most vile and despicable person to run for elected office, never mind actually be elected. This is common knowledge.

Just to pick one out here: Trump's not a cheat? Um, how many wives has he cheated on? All of them? How much did he settle the Trump U case for? $25 million, I believe?

You really do live up to the reputation you have around here.

Not if its a Republican.

There seems to be a massive amount of denial with Trump supporters. If they recognize any of his flaws, they rationalize them and jump to a ridiculous shouts of what about and false equivalences.

What, you don't point to little girls and fantasize about dating them?
