That was kinda bizarre yesterday.

The reporters seemed rightfully speechless at the last bit.

This is just not normal.

Instead what's going to happen is that there's not going to be more industry, imports will cost more and ultimately consumer goods inside the US will cost more while they will cost less outside the US compared with before.

I read that Swedish steel exports are overwhelmingly composed of special rare alloys that are often not produced elsewhere, because of the complexity of producing them. Even if the American importers are not able to get an exemption for these steel products, it's almost certain that they would continue to import it despite the 25% tariff simply because they have no other choice.

It's not like the Americans are going to spend 100's upon 100's of millions of dollars to set up a high-tech steel foundry (which would not actually employ very many people) to compensate for tariffs that might be gone at any point, rendering the enterprise completely unprofitable before it might have even started. That's an example of why economists say that Trump's tariffs aren't inherently going to cause much damage, but rather it's the uncertainty of his impulsive and reckless imposition of them that's ultimately the problem. It's really hard to make plans for many years, decades even, into the future if you are going to be dealing with Trump's mood swings

Unless the image itself is faked, that checkmark next to her name means it's a verified account.

I'd bet that was unintentional. Still funny, though.

W. Kamau Bell covered the coal country in the Appalachians in one of his programs interviewing people in a retraining program and they were very happy with it and believe grants for similar programs would be welcomed. He was talking to black coal miners. Maybe some of the older men aren't interested in change, but family were miners or not, some younger people would welcome change and it would eventually become more accepetable.

If it's a fake With Hunt Hoax, then what have leaked letters got to do with it? Surely they can only exculpate him?
