Trump claims

"Not that it matters but I never fired James Comey because of Russia! The Corrupt Mainstream Media loves to keep pushing that narrative, but they know it is not true!"

Apart from in and NBC interview that is.

""In fact when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, you know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia..."

They can only get as much out of him as he can pay. He seems to have a very high maintenance life style since he had to mortgage his home.

Nonsense!

Using a HELOC for a short term cash need would not mean that he has a high maintenance life style. He might have gobs of money in investments that he'd rather not touch.

The fact that he used a mortgage to pay off Daniels tells us bupkiss about his lifestyle, except that he owns a home.

As usual, he speaks so incoherently that different interpretations are consistent.

He could have been saying that he fired Comey because of the Russian investigation, but he also could have been saying that because the investigation was nonsense, he felt he could fire Comey despite the investigation.

Clearly, Russia was on his mind at the time of the firing, but I don't think his comments are quite the smoking gun that you and the media take them to be.

Having said all that, we're then left to try to put his words in context along side his actions.

so yea, he fired Comey because of Russia.

Oh, I certainly think that's probable. I was just pointing out that his comments were not overwhelming evidence of this.

And don't forget Giuliani statement:
"He fired Comey because Comey would not, among other things, say that he wasn't a target of the investigation...He's entitled to that. Hillary Clinton got that. And he couldn't get that. So he fired him. And then he said, 'I'm free of (these) guys.'"

https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/31/politics/trump-russia-investigation/index.html

But then Giuliani only fetches coffee, so what does he know? Or are Trump and his supporters going to claim that he was still learning and didn't have all the facts when he made that statement?

The Feds have their own rules for discovery, and then there are about fifty (i.e. one per state) others, of varying practical assistance to the defense.

One aspect is common to all of them. A prosecutor must disclose any exculpatory evidence to the defense. This includes anything which might exonerate the defendant. Other material evidence might need to be requested, but potentially exculpatory evidence has to be turned over, without the need for any action on the part of the defendant.

One of the quickest ways for a guilty verdict to get overturned is for it to be shown that the prosecutor withheld that sort of evidence. That doesn't look good on their record, so they tend to avoid any likelihood that they'll get caught doing that.

They may try to play fast and loose with other discovery requests from a defendant, but they tend to be pretty careful about that one.
Right, I didn't disagree with that at all. I just said you don't give it over before indictments.

If you listen to the whole exchange and not just that clip, you're interpretation becomes stretched beyond credulity.

If you go by the standard that OJ was innocent and the cops were justified in beating Rodney King...

I get it you are trying to be a devil's advocate here, but have you heard Giuliani's latest statement? He is supposed to be Trump's lawyer. He said there was obstruction but they have some alt-reality case to sell the public that it wasn't. Trump is being framed sums up their case.

Trump is now again denying firing Comey over Russia.

What is it with is moron?

He said that is EXACTLY why he fired Comey at the time on National television. I remember at the time thinking Trump is a world class idiot because that was tantamount to confessing to obstruction.

His moron sycophants and losers who cling to his every word still insist no collusion, despite him asking Russia for help on National TV.

It'll be a good day when these conspiracy minded losers are relegated back to the dustbin of society. We need to move forward.

No collusion despite asking for help on tv and meetings to discuss collusion and announcements following the meeting and a massive effort on the part of the Russians. Manafort, Flynn, Don Jr etc all failing to report meetings.

No, God forbid we take him at his word.

What is it with people? Hillary deletes emails as we all do and the world screams corruption. Trump on the other hand goes around asking everyone from Jeff Sessions to Rod Rosenstein, Comey and members of the intelligence committee to back off and somehow this isn't obstruction? He FIRED Comey because of the Russia investigation.

I don't give a crap what Trump says today and no one else should either.

Trump has turned everyone's critical thinking skills to mush.
