Kelly to the rescue!

Maybe I just absorbed the hate toward him from a friend of mine over how he left army special forces hanging under fire by not sending his helicopters to them.
I am unaware of that. It may or may not be true (my own military career has offered me multiple occasions to observe that the poor or nasty decisions alleged by the lower ranks were not actually made by the higher ranks). Still, if you have specifics, I'm interested in looking it up further.

My own opinion is shaped partly by how I have seen him behave in the spotlight since becoming the advisor and partly from long ago first hand experience.

It happened. Was he indecisive or did he have a good reason not to send help, I don't know but I can get the hate.

What would be the compromise between those who oppose slavery and those who demand it? I mean, would everybody take turns?

There was a lot of variations in those opposed to slavery as to what to do about it.

Some wanted immediate end to slavery. Some wanted to set a deadline. Some wanted to contain it to the existing slave states and then it would eventually die off. Some favored emancipation with government compensation for lost 'property'.

And then there was what to do with the former slaves. Integrate, segregate, emigrate were options.

Thanks. Seems damning. My confusion was that I thought you were ascribing this to McMaster. It does dampen my like for Mattis' military career.

It does go to show that his plans of leaving green berets with out helicopter rescue dated back well before Niger.

Kind of.. [McCain]'s still voting with their awful policies 99% of the time.

Not true.

McCain only votes with Trump 84% of the time. This is the third-to-lowest score among GOP Senators.
Even Democrats vote with the President 10 to 54% (!) of the time. No Republican votes with him more than 96% of the time.

Except in the house. Paul Ryan

But is that dishonor, or just really ****** beliefs and ideology? I don't agree at all with McCain's politics.

None of the above.

As pointed out a few posts before yours, it is not, in fact, true, that McCain votes with the platform 99% of the time. Only 84%. which makes him the third-most maverick GOP senator.

Kelly must have forgot the history he learned at Annapolis...

Did they teach real history of the civil war there at the time or was it more like the georgia school books that talked about the barbecues and singing and dancing lives of slaves, as if slavery was one big party?

Well it is certainly hypocrisy as he has a long history of making public statements against policies then going along and voting for them anyway.

Did he attend the Naval Academy?

His wiki bio doesn't say anything about him ever having been a midshipman.

A year in the Merchant Marine. Enlisted USMC. Officer via OCS. BA from UMass Boston. MA from Georgetown School of Foreign Service.
