What has happened to the UK

How so? If the government doesn't enforce it all you have is an opinion that it should be a right, you don't actually get to do it.

I suppose that means I have the right to bear arms?? Actually, with the weather at the moment I'm happy with the right to bare arms, I could also be persuaded to arm bears.

All philosophical statements on rights is an opinion.
Good, progress. Now, in the future I ask that you please refrain from stating your own opinions as facts.
It is a view or judgement, but through a logical process.

You cannot logically deduce anything in philosophy from first principles. The most we can hope for is to agree on common principles and work from there. The problem is that you insist on using out own instead of the commonly accepted ones so you end up just saying random stuff that will never fit with the conclusions of well reasoned Philosophy.

If you learn anything from the history of philosophy it is that all grand foundationalist projects are fatally flawed.

Great fun watching (through quotes) a couple of Americans who have clearly never set foot outside their country, and probably not even their own state, giving us all the benefit of their knowledge of a country they have never visited, and haven't got the first clue about. ****-stirring is the usual term for this behaviour.

"**** stirring" is accurate, but I think "arrogance" is a good term also. US kids are told from an early age how wonderful the USA is (and it actually is, IMO, though for different reasons for myself.)

I have friends who have never gone out from my county. Xenophobia. The USA is the best place on Earth, and nobody can differ.

Line from a film- "How can you proclaim to love America, while clearly disliking Americans?"

I would add, "How can you be a good person without accepting the fact that you are one of 8 billion people, who don't agree with you?"

Chaos. All it takes is one (or two, or a thousand) to realize that systems grounded in any kind of concrete philosophy is doomed.

ETA: When I was young, the mantra I often heard was "America- love it or leave it." I have always despised that. Society not only does change, but should.

Which is exactly what he wanted to happen.

He enjoys playing the martyr, and demonstrating to his followers that the system is out to get him.

As it should be!!!!!:):):):):) as well his little band of *********.

The British decided a few years ago that they were not going to let Germany and Sweden beat them in the race to become Europes first Islamic ********. That's what happened to the UK.

I think this is more on it,
May I ask what do they think of the rest of the world?

They exist independent of any action of society.
They really don't. How can they be said to exist at all if no-one enumerates or recognises them? The mechanism society uses to enumerate and recognise rights is legislation.

You seem to believe that there are these nebulous things called "rights" which exist somewhere out there, though no-one seems to be able to agree on what they are or which ones of them should be enforced. Under such a description, a universe with these "rights" is completely indistinguishable from a universe that lacks them.

If one wishes to discuss the origins of rights and whether they are philosophical etc. take it to an appropriate thread in the appropriate section of the forum, such discussion is off topic for this thread.

Getting back to the topic, what has happened to the UK is that it has remained a state in which the rule of law is in effect, presumption of innocence is seen as an important part of the justice system, and incitement to vigilante action is strongly discouraged. So, basically, nothing's happened to it.
