<snip>

Given the tactics that the Republican Party has been employing for far too long, the rise of people like Trump to power among them has been something of an inevitability, unfortunately. It's a horrible state of affairs, yes, but not even remotely unforeseeable in light of simple cause and effect.

It's really more of a surprise that it's taken as long as it has than that it has happened at all.

"May" quit - it's just words.

Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of pact among leading members of the administration and if one went, all three went. IIRC one went and the rest stayed in place.

Jeff Sessions has shown time and again that he really, really likes being AG and will do all kinds of things to remain AG including perjuring himself, allowing himself to be abused by the president and so on. IMO something as trivial as Rosenstein being fired wouldn't elicit comment from Sessions, much less resignation.

Sure. I don't think the contents of the story are significant. That it's a story at all, however, I think is interesting.

I am still wondering what Mueller might do or legally can do if he felt the investigation was prematurely shut down. I know he has shared information with the New York state attorney. Would he share information with select Congressman? Or would be close shop and issue a quick report ( which Trump would try to bury)?

What is the standard procedure and the legal situation? That is what he would do.

In which case various prosecutors will get a package of evidence on a variety of accused perpetrators.

45 may be able to exert some influence over federal prosecutors. State prosecutors, not so much.

As long as Trump doesn't do it on a tarmac, it's apparently ok.

Well, obviously Bill was much better at it than Trump! Just a few words to Lynch and massive amounts of criminal evidence evaporated! Trump is as incompetent at obstructing justice as he is at everything else.

ETA: So yes, it's apparently ok.

Lol

It’s obstruction, then it isn’t obstruction because Trumps too dumb to pull off obstruction.

Thanks guys, this is truly fun to read.
