He's walking back on it

"Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all! In any event, the United States, under my Administration, has done a great job of ridding the region of ISIS. Where is our “Thank you America?”"

The significant thing for me isn't that he said he'd bomb Syria, but that he blamed Russia for the chemical attack. Twice in the last week he's thrown shade on either Russia or Putin. These are the first negative things he's said about either in public since he was elected.

That seems to be his way - whatever position he holds now will be neatly reversed some time in the near future.

Remember the volte face on DACA, the best tax bill in the world that became the worst and so on....

I've not got a link to hand, but Trump is now threatening to bomb Syria, and blaming Russia for being in partnership with Assad. There definitely seems to have been a souring between Trump and Putin of late.

After giving them enough warning to make sure there's gonna be a Russian or two pretty nearly everywhere Assad has something worth hitting with a missile or bomb.

It's almost like he wants to give Putin a good excuse to move things up to the next level.

I can just about guarantee that some Russian is going to be hurt somehow the next time we blow up anything Assad or Putin doesn't want us to.

Whether there's a Russian there or not.

I kinda thought the opposite...

By issuing his warning, he's making sure Russia and Syria can move all their valuable targets somewhere safe. Trump looks "tough" but whatever attacks he launches don't really have any effect.

Except they'll be almost certain to hit a "Russian" now. No matter where they land, or what else is there.

That would require Trump actually thought about his Tweets, something we have no evidence he does no matter how many right-wingers on TV pretend there is some master plan with every one of Trump's actions.

They are poor impulse control Tweets, every one of them.

So, a more likely scenario: Trump had a frustrating week. The Syrian gas attack gave him a chance to act all presidently, and he could remind people Obama failed where braggadocios Trump was big and tough.

But it doesn't suit him to wait until an action is taken, he can't wait.

So the Tweet was a means of Trump saying I'm going to act.

Then he got feedback, he said he wouldn't reveal such things ahead of time: many clips were played of him saying that; news media interviewed people responsible for the military action and they were caught off-guard.

Whoops! Trumpy goes into repair/rationalize mode and Tweets he wasn't really giving plans away. Trump changes his brain narrative, he was always on top of this, only fake news said he wasn't.

Senator Paul is calling for the president to declassify some of the shenanigans the FBI/DOJ have been involved in.

A little evidence would be nice.

I'm sure you'll get to see all the evidence when/if the rest of us do.

Until then, the nice thing about a reputable news source is they have something to lose from mis-reporting.

So, enjoy the additional dossier confirmation, and just put a little asterisk next to it and remember to follow up later.

Well this is it. Trump France and the UK have launched an attack on Assad.

Details to follow.

And he's sniffing again during the speech.

I do wish we were listening to May or Macron instead of this dufus.

Uh-oh. McClatchy is reporting that Mueller has evidence that Cohen did meet with Russians in Prague in late summer 2016, as alleged in the Steele dossier.

Even if it can be proven Cohen lied about being in Prague, it doesn't mean he was colluding with Russians. Maybe he was paying a young woman not to speak about an affair with David Dennison. That seems to happen all the time -- paying your own money behind a billionaire boss's back to keep a sex worker quiet about an affair that didn't happen with someone who doesn't exist. The really corrupt people are Comey and Mueller.

Cohen not being in Prague was touted as proof that the Steele Dossier was a fabrication.
With this big domino falling, there isn't much Steele was wrong about.

I assume that Nunes and Hannity will sent him an apology.

:)

This is fake news, there is zero proof in the article.
