Stormy Daniels Sues the President

I don't think that Zambo agrees with this - just their assessment of how it will be spun and perceived by the idiots.
Armed federal police are on the border now, Mexicans or "others" are being shot now, though that pales in comparison to heat fatalities.

Trump can't take credit for the story of a 16-year-old rock-throwing boy shot through the border fence by a U.S. Border Patrol agent firing into Mexico.

From the Nogales International:

Previous evidence presented at the trial, now in its third week at U.S. District Court in Tucson, showed that Swartz fired 16 shots through the border fence in 34 seconds, striking Elena Rodriguez 10 times in the back and head while he stood and then fell on a street below in Nogales, Sonora.

The shooting was in 2012. The agent was charged with 2nd-degree murder and is pleading self-defense. Not all that relevant to Stormy Daniels. Maybe Trump can pardon him ...

Spectacularly thirsty law talking guy Michael Avenatti goes straight for the gutter:

Sounds like Stormy and Thirsty had extensive conversations about Big Donny, huh?

Classy

Well, when you're talking about Trump you can't hit bellow the belt because there is no belt. It's good to think of Trump as an it, without feelings, values or normal human emotions.

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE — AP -- President Donald Trump says he didn’t know about a $130,000 payment his personal attorney made to an adult film actress who alleges they had an affair.

Asked if he knew about the payment to Stormy Daniels, Trump said no.

The reporter then asked: “Then why did Michael Cohen make it, if there was no truth to her allegations?”

“You’ll have to ask Michael Cohen,” Trump said. “Michael’s my attorney, and you’ll have to ask Michael.”

Very clever.

It is hardly clever. In fact, it is quite stupid on a number of levels.

If what Trump is saying is true, then Michael Cohen will likely be facing disbarment since he was acting on behalf of Trump without the knowledge, or consent, of Trump.

On the other hand, if Trump is lying, then Trump is an evident liar who will cheat on his wife just a few weeks after she gave birth to his son.

In any case, Trump will have to face some very tough, and very public, questions about just what did happen in regards to the Stormy Affair.

But this is not new news

It's been well documented that President Trump lies a great deal but his supporters and the GOP just wave it away as The President just saying/tweeting stuff.

His previous infidelity is well documented but this too is not an issue. His supporters and the GOP will just point to Bill Clinton.

Not enough people care that the President is a liar and a cheat for it to be politically uncomfortable for him.

In any case, Trump will have to face some very tough, and very public, questions about just what did happen in regards to the Stormy Affair.

I doubt it. He will just continue to deny everything despite the facts and enough people will he happy with that for it not to be inconvenient for him.

cool false dichotomy.

Another option is that he delegated the settlement of Stormy's claim to his lawyer as I expertly explained earlier in the thread.

Very clever

I think The Big Dog is right - this is very clever for Trump. It's on the level of "the dog ate my homework" for most of the rest of the human race. But, for Trump, it's very clever.

Really?
That would still imply that he authorized Cohen "to handle the Daniels' situation".
He just claimed he didn't.

In any case, his statement makes it much easier for a judge to nullify the settlement.

I think the GOP thinks Trump is a clown.
This is waaaay too broad. I suspect there is a wide range of opinion about Frump within the GOP, including elected officials and ordinary voters. That too many voters are rabid supporters and too many elected officials are enablers is the problem.

I predict they will support him until after the midterm elections, and then find a better candidate. I know that a party not supporting a sitting POTUS is somewhat inconceivable, but does anyone think this guy is going to get a second term?

I'm not sure. The loose expectation now is for a blue blowout. Even if the Dems capture one side of congress but by a thin margin, Trumpsters will claim it was only Frump who saved the GOP from a worse disaster. Frump's approval is still pretty high among GOP voters so anyone taking action to Dump Trump will be putting his/her career in peril.

No he did not. He claimed he did not know about the payment of 130k. Big difference.

Legal talking head after legal talking head says this was a huge blunder by Trump. The thing you said was clever that is.

If the Democratic Party make substantial (i.e. more than would be expected when the other party has the Presidency and both houses) gains, then I'll happily admit that I've been far too pessimistic and have underestimated the US electorate.

Never underestimate the gullibility and ignorance of the American electorate. :(

That is what us ace thread legal beagles call "at issue."

Ya know, Dog, I like reading your contributions to this thread even though I often disagree. But contrary opinion is healthy.

But the endless boasting? It goes on and on and on and on and ....

CUT IT OUT!

Li'l Donnie wants his revenge on Daniels and his denials too. Cohen might have a valid argument if Donnie was saying he knew all about the contract and approved it. If the idea was to get the case to automatic arbitration as quickly as possible, then raising the question of whether Trump even knew about it was very dumb. I won't predict how the judge will rule on that, but I should hope he's going to look into that before making a judgement, which means he'll want to hear what Trump says under oath.

No he won't.
He'll just hide and not take any questions, nor hold any press conferences.
Almost like what he is doing now.

Fine.

If you are indeed correct then Trump will have to publicly deal with the fact that he paid off a professional porn star to hide the fact of the sexual affair with her which occurred shortly after his third wife gave birth to their son.

The ones I read don't know their asses from a hole in the ground, they keep saying that Trump did not know about the agreement, but that is not what he said, he said he didn't know about the money. If you have a particular article that you found convincing, I would be delighted to review it, however.

Now of course, if someone were to state that it was not what he said but that he said ANYTHING, with that i would agree. But having opened up his yammer, what he said was clever.

As I am sure you know, big organizations routinely extend settlement authority, case in point, a local school board recently extended up to 150k in settlement authority to get rid of a case. A couple of months later it showed up on the rubber stamp agenda because they got it done for less.

the fact that Big Donny did not know the exact amount does not at all prevent it from being enforced.
