"CNN reported on Wednesday that the findings in Horowitz's report on McCabe were referred to the FBI's Office of Professional Responsibility, staffed with career officials, who recommended McCabe's termination."

so, Horowitz 1, your inside jobby job conspiracy theory? ZILCH

Who told CNN that?

DOJ statement:

After an extensive and fair investigation and according to Department of Justice procedure, the Department’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provided its report on allegations of misconduct by Andrew McCabe to the FBI’s Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR).

The FBI’s OPR then reviewed the report and underlying documents and issued a disciplinary proposal recommending the dismissal of Mr. McCabe. Both the OIG and FBI OPR reports concluded that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor − including under oath − on multiple occasions.

Hats off to the IG and OPR

As filtered by Sessions who we know can't be trusted on any matter relating to the Russia investigation.

Statement from McCabe's lawyer:

I have been involved in Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) disciplinary matters since 1994. I have never before seen the type of rush to judgment – and rush to summary punishment – that we have witnessed in this case.

[...]

The investigation described in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) report was cleaved off from the larger investigation of which it was a part, its completion expedited, and the disciplinary process completed in a little over a week. Mr. McCabe and his counsel were given limited access to a draft of the OIG report late last month, did not see the final report and the evidence on which it is based until a week ago, and were receiving relevant exculpatory evidence as recently as two days ago. We were given only four days to review a voluminous amount of relevant evidence, prepare a response, and make presentations to the Office of the Deputy Attorney General.

Reminder: Bromwich was himself an inspector general for the DOJ for 5 years.

And why did Sessions involve himself in this at all. He's recused himself from anything to do with the Russia investigation and firing a potential witness is absolutely part of the Russia investigation.

You don't need to go to Russia, he very explicitly recused himself from any matters relating to Clinton's emails, or the Clinton foundation. So there's no question of doubt that he should have no involvement in this at all.

I posted a link to a transcript of the relevant testimony upthread somewhere earlier today.

I hope Cohen threatens Comey and McCabe. I suspect ex-FBI Directors have resources that aren't available to ex-models and porn stars.

This is what you get for not reading when you're the president. Anyone who read anything about LBJ or "Team of Rivals" would have known to keep McCabe in his job. Clearly we have a "president" engaging in some dangerous discovery learning.

You do know that he was planning on retiring today right?

Cripes folks, Wray called McCabe into a meeting in January, afterwards MCCabe announced he was retiring when his pension vested today.

The claims that Trump engineered this is a shamtastic.

McCabe is a maroon.

I thought you were a Catholic?

....

Pure coincidence that he was fired 26 hours before he was scheduled to retire, after 22 years of service? Sure. And Trump has been publicly demanding his termination since he spoke up for James Comey. But nobody was paying any attention to Trump, right?

And instead of letting McCabe leave quietly and finally, Justice will now have to deal with months, perhaps years, of appeals procedures and ultimately law suits, opening cans of worms that they might prefer to keep sealed.

Short-term victory, long-term defeat.

Who said it was a coincidence? It ain’t as if they could fire him after he retired.

Good point. McCabe is just hell bent on bleeding taxpayers one way or another. Thankfully the swamp got noticeably more shallow with his ouster. Thank you, President Trump.
