The Trump Presidency (Act V - The One Where Everybody Dies)

Had Trumpy commented on the Pennslyvania election yet? Probably waiting for the final results, but I am expecting a big meltdown...If Lamb wins, as seems almost certain, a major humiliation for him.
Trump is never humiliated. He simply blames someone else and moves on.

He does, however, hate negative publicity, though that too is quickly dismissed as fake news. Makes Trumpy feel better.

Conor Lamb the Democratic candidate appears to have won a razor thin victory, less than 1,000 votes out of 230,000 cast. This could be used by The Dunce to push his illegal voters meme. News link

I was particularly struck by this :
' “Conor Lamb was talking about redevelopment and economic growth, and the Republicans were talking about Nancy Pelosi,” Mr. Peduto said. “It’s like they couldn’t help themselves.” '

For years they've done nothing but attack Obama and Clinton, and have forgotten how to campaign. Now those two are riding into the sunset the Republicans have got nothing. No wonder they still keep harping on about them, but they're talking to themselves.

Lamb won Pennsylvania special election because he "embraced Trump's policies"

According to White House.

Thank God for PBS.

To be fair, Woodruff is kinda buff. She got guns.

PM me when a hottie at Fox stays on air until she's Woodruff's age - 71! Judy Woodruff was very good looking but she's a product of my generation and she went for the Donna Reid bobbed blonde haircut look, all clean-cut mom-in-the-kitchen-in-high-heels fantasy stuff. I'm sure she could've pulled off the present day Palin-esque on-air bimbo look if she'd wanted to (or if anyone would've tolerated it).

See image in upper left corner. She was 27.

In fundraising speech, Trump says he made up facts in meeting with Justin Trudeau
http://wapo.st/2FJgDd0

"So he’s proud. I said, ‘Wrong Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know.*... I had no idea. I just said ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart. I said, ‘You’re wrong Justin.’ He said, ‘Nope we have no trade deficit.’ I said, ‘Well in that case I feel differently,’ I said ‘but I don’t believe it.’ I sent one of our guys out, his guy, my *guy, they went out, *I said ‘check because I can’t *believe it.’

‘Well, sir, you’re actually right. We have no deficit but that doesn’t include energy and timber … And when you do, we lose $17 billion a year.’ It’s incredible.”

The United States trade representative office says the United States has a trade surplus with Canada.

I've spent a few minutes trying to formulate a comment to this. It is indeed incredible, I'll give him that...

Nothing from Trump that I'm aware of, but some statements from the Whitehouse echoing Ryan... "Lamb adopted Trump's policies". Other statements about how it was a tie.

I'm sure Trump will find some way to justify the loss, just as he did in the Alabama senate election.

As long as it (the explanation for the loss) doesn't include the word "Trump", he's got multiple routes to go.

In New Jersey and Virginia they were lightweights who weren't Trumpy enough. In Alabama he wanted the other Republican but the evil Bannon and mean old Sessions made him come out for Judge Roy. In Pennsylvania, it's being played as Trumpty Dumpty almost pulling the underdog over the finish line and a miraculous recovery.

Doesn't matter... like I said, as long as it doesn't include "because Trump is so disliked, even by his core followers, that he can't get anyone elected", he'll keep on hand-waving away the party's failures. One seat at a time, eh?

My work is done, here..... On To Arizona! (Just kidding... AZ 8th is probably more red than even the PA district just contested, and that one's naturally red... it's Conservative Country. No one's expecting to steal this one.)

The Democrat took that district after Trump won it in 2016 by 22 points. That's roughly twice the size of the lead Trump had in Texas. The only major negative the Republican had was his support of Trump. This pretty much means that Texas could be in play in 2020.

There's not much to say really. It pretty much speaks for itself. Another story:
http://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...onors-about-making-up-facts-during-talks-with
“Trudeau came to see me. He’s a good guy. Justin. He said ‘No, no, we have no trade deficit with you, we have none. Donald, please,’” Trump said. “Nice guy, good looking guy, comes in – ‘Donald we have no trade deficit.’”

“I said, ‘Wrong Justin, you do.’ I didn’t even know. ... I had no idea. I just said ‘You’re wrong.’ You know why? Because we’re so stupid. … And I thought they were smart. I said, ‘You’re wrong Justin,’” Trump continued.

“He said, ‘Nope we have no trade deficit.’ I said, ‘Well in that case I feel differently,’ I said ‘but I don’t believe it.’ I sent one of our guys out, his guy, my guy, they went out, I said ‘check because I can’t believe it,’” he said.

“‘Well sir you’re actually right. We have no deficit but that doesn’t include energy and timber … And when you do we lose $17 billion a year.’ It’s incredible."

The U.S. trade representative office states that the United States does, in fact, have a trade surplus with Canada, according to The Post.

One of the reactions of Trump's stormtrooping GOP to the recent House seat election loss:

NYT: ...the National Republican Congressional Committee put out a call for voters to report any irregularities in the balloting.

I think if there is a shift in the majority of the House and Senate in 2018, Trump, Ryan, and McConnell will all most definitely call it a rigged election. The only fair elections in America are won by people like Roy Moore: nice, decent liars whole deal and dole.

The way that reads to me is that Trump is bragging that his instinct was right, even though he had no idea of the actual facts. What I can't work out is whether he actually was right, mostly because I can't tell whether either man is referring to the US's trade deficit with Canada, or Canada's trade deficit with the US.

I'm not in a position to know whether this would be an appropriate thing to do.

What I do know is that Trump and Sessions would be painting a huge target on their backs: telling FBI agents that the administration will take away most of on an agent's pension days before they retire if they don't like them is not going to win over hearts and minds.
