The Trump Presidency (Act V - The One Where Everybody Dies)

What I wonder about is how can the Republicans spin this while also claiming to be a 'small government' party?Having the government interfere in a dispute between a company and a non-governmental organisation to me seems to be the total opposite. It's more a communist thing really.

They've been hustling that lie for decades. What is wonderous is that so many people still claim to believe it.

"There has been disarray in the White House before but this time, observers said, the checks and balances that have provided a modicum of restraint appear to be crumbling, leaving Trump isolated, angry and ready to lash out. It is, they fear, not inconceivable that the world’s most powerful country is now being guided by instinct, by impulse, by whim and by mood swing."

During the 2016 campaign, I heard a New York sports broadcaster, Mike Francesca of WFAN, speak in reverent hushed tones about how, if elected, "Trump will do the work. It's been a long time since we have had someone in the Oval Office who does the work." He went on and on about this. Even The Sporting News picked up on it:
"This guy works 20 hours a day. He doesn't need the job. He doesn't need the money. He doesn't need the power. He had all that already. I think it's about doing a good job. His ego will not let him do anything but a good job. Because he's driven. You want someone driven in there that will do a good job. Because we need to fix things fast. Our infrastructure is a joke. I want a builder. The guy's a builder. I want a builder." Link

I didn't tune in to an all-sports station to hear this nonsense and I emailed a complaint to WFAN. I never heard anything back from WFAN -- though Francesa has said management asked him to consider dropping the Trump rhetoric (which he didn't do) because of many complaints -- and I have never listened to Francesca since. Not once. After listening to his broadcasts for over 25 years.

After watching Trump lead the USFL right out of existence, see his airline fail miserably, lose literally billions on his bankrupt Atlantic City casinos, Francesa "wants a builder?" Are we living in the same world?

"This guy works is up 20 hours a day.

Fixed that for you, Mike. ;)

Trump spends all of his time playing golf and watching television. He has no time available for an affair and just doesn't seem to be doing that. But he has to be doing that because that Foxx author guy says he is and we can't start doubting his accuracy and integrity because he wrote that Fire and Fury book. Oh crap, we almost forgot all about that book. Who cares if any of it is true or not anyway. Trump is just bad to the bone no matter what.
I read the book. I don't recall any such claim.

Apparently so. The tariff tease* took almost everyone on his team by surprise. Clearly it wasn't a planned rollout. According to inside sources, Trump was worked up about the various scandals and acted on impulse.

I figure that if his moody, impulsive actions wind up with tariffs, we're doing ok, if you consider the alternatives.

* In that it was in typical And on next week's episode style, as the Huxster-In-Chief is so fond of.

The good news about this tariff idea is that by Monday, he'll have forgotten he even said it. Shoot, he'll probably deny he even did it.

This is one thing that Trump supporters get right - you can't take him seriously regardless what he says. He doesn't actually mean it. He just says whatever he wants.

That's why they can ignore all his contradictory nonsense. They know it's not serious and in the end, he will be manipulated to do what the GOP wants him to do, irrespective of what he says.

They can treat it like his order about trans soldiers. He made the order, the Joint Chiefs said, "No thanks, it's business as usual" and it is all forgotten.

You can't take him seriously.

How about: “It just goes to show how smart he is, saying all the right things to get elected so he could Make America Great Again! Which is what you do when campaigning. Same thing with getting help from Russia. You’re secretly just jealous of his skill.”

You are close, but it is more like this:

"It only applies to Obama and any excuse to criticize him is justified; no criticism of Trump is allowed"

Is the guy with the nuclear football with him when he attends dinners like the one he's supposed to tonight? Wouldn't it be unsurprising if The PDJT requested it and did something just because he could?

Just to show off to his cronies.

Is the guy with the nuclear football with him when he attends dinners like the one he's supposed to tonight? ...

Yes.

I should think the WH (with its situation room downstairs), AF One (which is a mobile sit room) and the Pentagon and any "bunkers" if they have similar, are the only locations the football is ever out of "shouting distance".

Even then... it's in the building with him. I wonder where in the WH it's looked after while he sleeps in the residence.
An office in that wing? Downstairs? In the hall outside his bedroom? :D

That's only 32 days less than an entire year. A whole year playing golf during a presidency! There ought to be a comedy written about the ridiculous luxury of being the president of America.

Guess what....Over the course of his eight year Presidency, Obama spent at LEAST one to two years...ASLEEP!

Quotes from tonights fund raiser at Mar-a-Lago

On the election
"I'm telling you, it's a rigged system folks, I've been saying that for a long time. It's a rigged system. And we don't have the right people in there yet. We have a lot of great people, but certain things, we don't have the right people."

On President Xi
"He's now president for life. President for life. And he's great," Trump said. "And look, he was able to do that. I think it's great. Maybe we'll give that a shot some day."
