The Trump Presidency (Act V - The One Where Everybody Dies)

So Dolt45 is backing gun control at odds with the NRA. This is just another distraction- but for what? So many things to chose from.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/feb/28/trump-background-checks-gun-control

Trump repeatedly berated his Republican colleagues, accusing them of being afraid of the NRA, and appeared to take pleasure in stating his willingness to take on the gun lobby.

President moron never, ever fails to surprise. Could this gun stance be the thing that does for him, or will it be water off a duck’s (duck a la orange?) back?

As much as I detest the guy, I'd give him a pass on this one. I know for a fact that when you're exhausted, the subject matter in meetings, no matter how interesting or boring, does not matter one whit. Even sitting in the front row at the Company Director's meeting can't change that. (I got called out on it.)

I don't disagree with you at all. The tweet was funny though. Miller's not a good person and as small a mistake as this is, which any one of us could make, I wouldn't be upset if it irritated Trump that it happened.

The pace of events this week is truly breathtaking.

Jared was in hot water yesterday. As of last night, that water is scalding hot. We need a Jared thread.

You're asking the wrong question.

Try "but for how long?"

And it's a "but what does he mean?" - there is zero chance that he has any kind of understanding of the issues and problems involved never mind how they can be tackled by the government.

One thing that has struck me as very ironic, Obama was meant to be to - any moment now, he's just waiting for an excuse - going to unconstitutionally grab your guns, yet it is Trump that has gone on record saying he wants to unconstitutionally confiscate your guns and damn due process yet there isn't any signs (yet?) of a huge uproar about this gun grab.

We seem to be in the land of "meta-distraction" - he needs distractions from the distractions!

Just a demonstration of our President's commitment to American business.
He heard about the "Trump Slump" in gun sales, so said something to put the gun nuts back into a buying panic.
I am sure the NRA sent him many thanks for his comments.

And it's a "but what does he mean?"...

It reminds me of his boast that under his health plan, everyone would have health insurance.

I remember opining it might have been analogous to “Only Nixon could go the China”. Maybe only Trump could do Universal Health Care.

But no...just another example that Trump “just says stuff”. None of it seems to be as the result of real thought or principles, and regardless everything he puts out there is subject to change on a whim.

“I think we should give guns to teachers.”

“The Fake News is saying I said to give guns to teachers. I never said that! What I said was we should give guns to some teachers.”*

Hard to get your bearings on shifting sands.

*Not actual quotes, but my impression of what he was saying.

I went and read through the comments on the Breitbart article about Trump's comments. Plenty of rumblings but I wouldn't call it anything like an uproar.

No doubt in a few days Trump will tweet "I never said anything about taking your guns".

I don't think he's worth his own thread. It looks like an open-and-shut bribery case with a side of unpardonable (by Trump) New York state charges.

What specifically did he do for the money? Remember the supreme court made bribery much harder to convict.

What official acts by Kushner did he do for the money to fit with current supreme court rulings on bribery?
