William Mauldin‏ @willmauldin

Trump on @WTO today: "The World Trade Organization makes it almost impossible for us to do good business. We lose the cases, we don't have the judges. We have a minority of judges. It's almost as bad as the 9th Circuit."

"The US wins 90% or cases it brings against other countries. (It tends to lose when other countries bring cases.)
No country has a majority of judges on a WTO panel hearing its cases - all of the judges are from countries not involved in the dispute."

More evidence of Trump's criminal enterprise mentality.

Trump on gun control legislation:

"I think we're going to have a great bill put forward, very soon, having to do with background checks, having to do with getting rid of certain things, and keeping other things, and perhaps we'll do something on age."

Does this remind anyone else of Kid Rock?

"And we were trying different things,
We were smoking funny things..."

Can't read the Trump quote without humming along!

Was it not explained to her that when she joined the administration that she was now in politics?

Yes, but when they said politics she heard "aristocracy".

Sarah Huckabee Sanders just clarified that when President Trump said earlier that he'd have run into the school with the active shooter, he didn't really mean that he'd run into a school with an active shooter but rather that he'd "be a leader"

I suppose when he said he'd "Make America Great Again" he meant "enrich himself on the back of the presidency" and when he said he'd "drain the swamp" he meant "fill the white house with corrupt cronies".

Any chance he may get a little more specific? :D

Pretty sure those things are not suppositions. ;)

@kaitlancollins

"President Trump tells the pool he had lunch with NRA boss Wayne LaPierre and NRA Executive Director Chris Cox over the weekend. He said the group wants to help and “is on our side.”

"This lunch was not listed on the daily schedules provided by the White House.
Trump says he's surprised the press didn't find out about this lunch sooner, debates calling them "lazy" but says he doesn't want to give them any enthusiasm."

What was discussed and what was decided?

It puts me in mind of Homer Simpson to Smithers : "Could you go back to where you said the things about the stuff?".

Trump campaign emails photo of Parkland survivor, asks for donations

Legal. And crass. Probably already mentioned in this fast-moving thread, but I think it is neatly emblematic of the GOP and its insistence on being as similar to biblical figures as it can. The repeated and hilarious epic fails, of course, come from their closer resemblance to the Pharisees than to anything they might imagine to be the case. Sometimes you gotta wish all that stuff were true, if only to see the Prosperity Gospel folks get tossed from the Temple and blink dumbfounded in the sunlight.

At least they aren't taking advantage of the tragedy for political gain. We have it on good authority that it would be a terrible, disgusting thing to do.

Trump only does the selecting - the Senate has to confirm the nominations. The question is "Why do they confirm these bags of ****?!"

They're a member of my tribe and will rule as I think they should (regardless of the law) therefore they are qualified. QED.

2) Buffet runs a publicly traded company. Those gains are spread around to individual investors, big and small. And mutual funds, pension funds, IRA’s and other retirement funds. I’m sure Buffet benefits bigly, but he’s far from the only one.

Does that, in your view, justify the tax cut bearing in mind that only about 2% of Americans own stock.

2%? That seems rather unbelievable, given the prevalence of 401ks. I'm sure most Americans don't own stock, but I'm also sure the percentage who do is greater than 2%.

No doubt you can enlighten me. Go ahead.

Umm, I already did and you commented on it? To expand though, they think that it's functionally impossible to deploy a firearm for self defense in all situations outside of war, rather than it being practically impossible in certain scenarios like an active mass shooter or that widespread gun ownership decreases any crime rate.

The catch is that sometimes civilians find themselves at war.

Armed civilians stand a chance. Unarmed civilians are at the whim of whoever is waging war against them. Foreign or domestic.
Yep, as soon as the Gun Ban comes into play, us Brits are gonna invade and take our country back. We are just waiting for that Ban.

(Of course, Trump has been by far the most dangerous person impacting citizens rights in the USA, so I can understand to a degree why you may want to protect yourself from a guy like that)
