Trump? He mocks other people for being fat, too.

Haven't you heard? His doctor says he's a trim and svelte 239 pounds!:D

-----

I'm 6' 2" and 220#. I look positively skinny compared to the Hair. But mebbe that's because I'm not full of hot air? Or other fetid gas?

And calls people idiots/dumb/stupid who act way better than he does - and are a lot more intelligent (sly is not a good skill - and even there his mental failings keep it from helping him except with the idiots who follow him on his trip to hell).

Young Republicans going giddy with Trump.

Problem is: foreigners. Money: NRA. Simple.

Not sure where I fit in. Will Trump buy me ticket out? I hold two passports.

Wow, that was quite the tense read... I can't say anyone can be shocked by the rhetoric, for sure, but the level of the reactions was, for a carefully selected and moderated event, certainly surprising. More proof that the Right has lost the plot.

The president’s personal pilot is on the administration's short list to head the Federal Aviation Administration. Trump has told a host of administration officials and associates that he wants John Dunkin — his longtime personal pilot, who flew him around the country on Trump Force One during the campaign — to helm the agency, which has a budget in the billions and which oversees all civil aviation in the United States.

At least the personal pilot has actually flown an airplane. Given recent appointments of judges who have never set foot in a courtroom, an energy secretary who would have eliminated the agency if he had remembered its name, and so on, it could be worse.

I would have expected a Flat Earther who doesn't believe flight is possible, and spends millions of dollars in inherited wealth trying to shut down airports.

That's what you get for standing up for Conservative and/or Evangelical morals in the era of Trump.

Hahaha! Morals about sexuality and fidelity at CPAC!? By all accounts, the local dommes love this event. These political conferences are well known for people sleeping around regardless of political persuasions, but these conservative events...

ETA: And here's the video of Steele and Schlapp discussing some mentioned remarks...

Granted, him being black *was* why a part of why he was elected to the RNC, but the guy's not a complete Herman Cain-esque clown. As I recall, he's in the GOP because he's strongly anti-abortion, as a catholic, and he did put a lot into the party, for sure.

Remarkable.

It's another example of his paranoia though. He will only use people he knows and that have some personal loyalty to him.

Over history, many democracies have fallen under the sway of authoritarian strongmen and ended up in very dark places.

I guess one could attempt to make the case that there’s something about the US that makes it exempt. “It can’t happen here”.

Not that I think it will, but I think it’s naive to deny even the possibility of it.

But yet none of them have been saved by a gun owning populace. And the other point is that such strongmen tend to be really quite popular. It just shows that you have no idea of how democracies are taken over by strongmen.

Like I said, I don’t find a US descent into totalitarianism likely. Just possible.

And that is why we need to preserve these political acts of mass killing. They are the kind of political statement that will somehow prevent totalitarianism. Terrorism is always good for democracies.

Trump campaign emails photo of Parkland survivor, asks for donations

Legal. And crass. Probably already mentioned in this fast-moving thread, but I think it is neatly emblematic of the GOP and its insistence on being as similar to biblical figures as it can. The repeated and hilarious epic fails, of course, come from their closer resemblance to the Pharisees than to anything they might imagine to be the case. Sometimes you gotta wish all that stuff were true, if only to see the Prosperity Gospel folks get tossed from the Temple and blink dumbfounded in the sunlight.
