The kind of hysterical ass-kissing in the referenced Times bit, like that done by Fox News, Orrin Hatch, and a host of other Trump cultists and opportunists, is contemptible; it’s utterly nauseating. So-called Americans abasing themselves for Dear Leader is a betrayal of what this nation is supposed to stand for. But then, so is Trump himself.

If you can imagine a greater problem than Trump, it would be the mindset of his supporters, common voters as well as the arse-osculation of the media, politicians, etc. If Trump were to be removed from office, what do you think their reaction will be? Somehow I don't think they will go down without a fight. We'll see people in the street, and they're the ones who think they are safer with a gun.

Being so deeply divided as a country, having separate realities, and those two tendencies made worse by a president, should worry us all.

I think we'll see a strong and visible reaction if he ever fires Mueller. Alternately, if the final result of Mueller's investigation is really damning and Congress ignores it, I think that will spark something major.
