The Trump Presidency (Act V - The One Where Everybody Dies)

I keep thinking about the first Left Behind movie (to which I didn't pay all that much attention). But I seem to recall a similar figure becoming President.
Or “Idiocracy”...
Idiocracy is nothing like our current situation.

In Idiocracy, President Camancho is intelligent enough to hire the best person "Not Sure" to fix the country's problems.

In real life, Trump has appointed people to positions who have no idea what they are doing (e.g. his court nominee who had never actually been involved in a trial) or are actively hostile to the group they are heading up. In other words, Trump is dumber than Camancho because he hires people who will make the problems worse.

Britain may not be too happy about the memo either.

From: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...-memo-release-risks-revealing-british-spying/
The UK will be less likely to share confidential information if the secret memo about the Russian investigation is made public, according to those opposing its release.

So, first Trump burns Israel by revealing information to the Russians that was based on Israeli intelligence work, and now Trump is potentially pissing of the brits.

Do you feel safer now?

President Trump has officially transformed himself from merely a great American president into a historic world leader keeping lit the torch of freedom for all people around the world.

In two speeches this week, Mr. Trump proved himself the greatest champion of freedom since Ronald Reagan. He has become the strongest voice today for “that shining city upon a hill.”

Mr. Trump joins Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Pope John Paul II and Martin Luther King Jr. in the pantheon of great champions of freedom from the past half-century.

Washington Times appreciate Trump even if no one else does.

I thought one of the components of conservatism is the romanticism of rugged individualism (?)

That being the case, why then the blatant brown-nosing and sycophantic tone of conservative editorials, such as linked by the Captain above, to a president barely past his first year in office? The pedestal placing and near-deification of Trump seems counter to the idea that a "Man makes his own way in the world". Don't know about anyone else, but I sure as hell was doing fine before Trump became president, and I expect I will be just fine long after he is gone.

Heck, I didn’t even like the Obama “Hope” posters; this is a whole different level. Somewhere between the sub-basement and the sewer.

The kind of hysterical ass-kissing in the referenced Times bit, like that done by Fox News, Orrin Hatch, and a host of other Trump cultists and opportunists, is contemptible; it’s utterly nauseating. So-called Americans abasing themselves for Dear Leader is a betrayal of what this nation is supposed to stand for. But then, so is Trump himself.

It's the Times - cultists are it's natural readership, because it's run by a cult leader.

He might as well follow Reagan.

It might have been possible to deport a good number in 1995. It is no longer possible. You would never catch them all. It’s not a crime where you can authorize agents to shoot escaping illegals. You have to catch and (at our cost) deport them.

A pardon every 20-30 years is all we can manage. Only Republican presidents can sign those. After Reagan, Trump. If he can get his party together.

Luckily the stream of illegals is less and less. Eventually we will beg for them to come and pick our crops as guest workers. They will just drive in by then.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 666 points today.

I wonder if that means anything.

Stock Markets reflect future expectations - and what more than the massive tax cuts can the market expect from this administration? Only the most bullish investors expect the GOP to successfully reintroduce slavery.

With due respect, have you seen your icon? I reckon that's a self-portrait (same as mine) and so I doubt you're doing quite so well as you think.
