Going round on Twitter

Tomorrow marks 1 year of the Travel Ban. WH wanted 90 days for a "better" policy.
So, with all the court actions, revisions, etc. have we actually seen the Trump administration do anything to put forward a "better" policy?

During the election Trump talked about "extreme vetting" (without ever describing what it meant, almost like he was an ignorant moron). Have there been any changes to the vetting process? Its been months since the original ban would have expired; more than enough time to implement any new processes.

And Trump is talking about fair trade in Davos, of course he didn't think it was fair that Mexico had a trade surplus with the USA. Maybe though he would be fine with Norway having a trade surplus.

No country can have a trade surplus with the US. That would not be fair. Fair trade is when the US wins.

Exactly. One would think the fact he hasn't attempted to put in place "better" policy after this long is further evidence that it's really just about banning muslims.

I wonder if talking down Trump so he did not fire Mueller resembeled The Black Widow talking down the Hulk in the Avengers movies. Except the Hulk was a bit more even tempered and a lot more intelligent....

From that story:
SunPower’s project development arm has already lost business to rival First Solar Inc (FSLR.O), which makes panels that are exempt from tariffs.

Unless I'm overlooking it, nowhere in the piece does it explain why First Solar's panels are exempt from tariffs. It makes panels in Malaysia, Vietnam and the U.S.

Yeah, this is the other dark side of tariffs: it's another way for congresscritters to hold jobs hostage for lobbying dollars.

It's just a trade version of tax exemptions.

But how? By blatantly exempting certain companies altogether? Or by writing specs that benefit some companies but not others?

My complaint is not about the tariffs per se, but about the article not explaining why First Solar's panels are exempt.
