trumpsters have found another distraction

And as a perfect example of the GOP's propensity for 'poisoning the well' (mentioned upthread), the NYT's article on this announcement includes this from Sen. Grassley, the guy who wants the FBI to start a criminal investigation against Steele;

Two Trump associates — Michael T. Flynn, the former national security adviser, and George Papadopoulos, a former campaign aide — have pleaded guilty to lying to the F.B.I. in the investigation led by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

Though Mr. Grassley made no mention of the two men on Friday, he appeared to suggest equivalence between their crimes and his views of Mr. Steele’s actions. “If the same actions have different outcomes, and those differences seem to correspond to partisan political interests, then the public will naturally suspect that law enforcement decisions are not on the up-and-up,” he wrote.

Typical GOP tactic. If they can't dodge the facts, they try and gin up something against the opposition and whine , "But they did it too.".

Trumps tweets

"Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart. Crooked Hillary Clinton also played these cards very hard and, as everyone knows, went down in flames. I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star.....

....to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius....and a very stable genius at that!"

I would never expect a genius to write such a thing...

... which only proves Donald Trump's genius.

He creates forces and forms that were heretofore unimaginable.

How absolutely hilarious that the pre$$titutes omit the first tweet of the series (see Stacko's post above), which is absolutely true, and necessary to understand the context of the following mocking. They deserve it.

I just love the insane lengths you go through to defend Trump. It's very telling.

We are impeaching you because a book says that you don't sleep with your wife and some people might think that you act like a child. But eating McDonalds in bed was really the last straw.

Yes, that's exactly my takeaway from that book. He eats too much McDonalds and doesn't spend enough time with his trophy wife.

Can't say there's anything else alarming in there.

President Donald Trump on Saturday again denied that his campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election and said he had not done anything improper amid allegations he tried to stop Attorney General Jeff Sessions from recusing himself from the ongoing special counsel investigation.

“Everything I’ve done is 100 percent proper,” Trump said during a press conference on the sidelines of a meeting with congressional leaders at Camp David. “That is what I do, is I do things proper."
He added later, “Just so you understand, there’s been no collusion, there’s been no crime.”

The president also cast doubt on a New York Times report that said Trump asked the White House’s top lawyer to convince Sessions not to recuse himself from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe.

He said the story is “off,” but did not explain why it is inaccurate.

The president also said he would be open to talking to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

"Sure, I always believe in talking," he said.

Trump has apparently already forgotten that he has publically rebuked and humiliated his secretary of state for trying to talk with the North Koreans at one point:

WASHINGTON — President Trump undercut his own secretary of state on Sunday, calling his effort to open lines of communication with North Korea a waste of time, and seeming to rule out a diplomatic resolution to the nuclear-edged confrontation with Pyongyang.

A day after Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson said he was reaching out to Pyongyang in hopes of starting a new dialogue, Mr. Trump belittled the idea and left the impression that he was focused mainly on military options. Mr. Trump was privately described by advisers as furious at Mr. Tillerson for contradicting the president’s public position that now is not the time for talks.
“I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful Secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter, using the derogatory nickname he has assigned to Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader. “Save your energy Rex,” he added, “we’ll do what has to be done!”

While some analysts wondered if the president was intentionally playing bad cop to the secretary’s good cop, veteran diplomats said they could not remember a time when a president undermined his secretary of state so brazenly in the midst of a tense situation, and the episode raised fresh questions about how long Mr. Tillerson would remain in his job.

A former chief executive of Exxon Mobil with no prior government experience, Mr. Tillerson has been deeply frustrated and has told associates that he tries to ignore the president’s Twitter blasts. But these would be hard to disregard as Mr. Tillerson returned from China, where he was trying to enlist more support from North Korea’s primary trading partner and political patron.

Doesn't exactly help his credibility...

Wolff spoke to the BBC's Today program...

When asked about what impact he expected the book would have, he said: "We will end this presidency now."

That's like being deluded by hopefulness. Was getting him thrown out of office the purpose of writing the book?

I haven't read the book yet but isn't it mostly making the case that the president is childish, whiny, irrational, stupid and spiteful? That's his public persona. He proudly displays those qualities. I can't see how this changes much.

It's 5:30 in the morning over there. Has he fired up his Twitter, yet? I picture him walking the halls of the West Wing like Lady Macbeth fighting his demons but unable to figure out that the demons are within. ...
He's at Camp David, not the White House. He's up there with GOP leaders and they're supposedly having great talks.

... Doesn't exactly help his credibility...
Is this sarcasm? Surely you can't think such 'help' is still possible.

The problem is that Pence, an actual foam-at-the mouth fundie, is a greater threat to freedom in this country than Trump could ever be.

Same from the clowns at SPIEGEL and likely countless other pre$$titute outlets throughout "the West". Russia? Huh? We've never been at war with Russia.

I am sure she is happy with both noted - the McDonald's will help blow a valve or artery and she'll never have to blow him again!!!!

He eats McDonalds because he's afraid of being poisoned by White House food. Skeptics actually frikkin believe that?
