Who will win the Alabama Senate special election?

Well, I live in Ali-bama (since 1997) and have voted this morning (for Jones and to keep/renew the school tax levies already in place). Seemed to be pretty busy, not a mob but a very steady progression of voters. Who it benefits remains to be seen.

As to the run-up, Jones spent considerable bucks on commercials and phone calls, and I was called by two different polling agencies over the past two weeks. Moore has done little except appear in various churches, not much on TV or any other get out the vote activities. He appears to think his core is going to be enough. We shall see.

Fingers crossed for y'all over there in these final hours, typing with a twang from TN.

In such an important election where skullduggery cannot be completely ruled out, the fact of an explicit desire to *not* preserve a record of the votes is ominous. I mean, WTF?! If there's *any* perceived potential for 'creative' vote counting expressed by any vested party that wishes a record be kept for the purpose of verification in instances of doubt, then there had bloody well be a record kept. That's only good sense which benefits the *electoral process* and the citizenry. Any dissenter against such a measure of protection is automatically suspect in my books.

I wouldn't include the supreme Court on this. They have to rule on matters of law. And you thinking they are suspect is not a matter of law.

It's not like this is the first time people who should be registered find they've been mysteriously removed. But wasn't there something about Russians hacking 20+ state's voter registration systems?

The AP contacted every state election office to determine which ones had been informed that their election systems had been targeted. The others confirming were Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas and Washington.

The hacking attempt was on the state's voter registration system, not voting machines. Had hackers taken over the voter registration system, they could have suspended people's registrations, creating confusion and long lines at the polls.

The polls have been neck and neck. What will happen if a recount is necessary?

And part of me wants this to happen...to expose the effery that the GOP uses to manipulate elections.
