All executive power is vested in the president of the united states. There is no other source for investigation discretion for a federal officer to use.

The President doesn't have the authority to shut down an investigation of himself. That is called obstruction of justice.

Yes he does. The decision to investigate is an executive one. The constitution vests ALL executive power into the president. For the president to not have that authority, some portion of the executive power would have to reside outside him. It does not.

The court can't order him to. See marbury v Madison (Madison won that one).

does it cause physical pain to admit you're wrong?

Oh for pity's sake. Where do you get this clap-trap from?

Article 2

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.

Contrast that with article 1

All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States,

You will notice only the legislative powers "herein" are vested in Congress.

The executive power (no limitation) is vested in the president.

If the president stops an investigation, the only real choice for congress is to impeach him. Impeachment is removal and needs no crime. The president and his office cannot stop that. It is not part of justice process.

This has been bugging me. Technically, they didn't "drop" the money laundering case. They settled it:

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee asked the Justice Department to explain a decision to settle a money-laundering case in May that involved the Russian lawyer who held a controversial meeting last year with Donald Trump Jr.
......
The U.S. agreed on May 12 to take $5.9 million to settle the lawsuit tied to a $230 million Russian tax fraud, avoiding a trial that was set to begin the following week.

I'm not sure if you guys meant "drop" as in "they didn't care so they took whatever", but the case was settled. It was just really pathetically settled.

I’m only just reporting it, not sure what the nonsense is or what I’m spinning. You seem a bit defensive? ;)

Who do you think you're fooling?

If you hadn't spent most of your time on this forum making your agenda clear, you might have some benefit of the doubt left.

It's confession time:

He asked his FBI Director to let his National Security Advisor off the hook for committing the crime of lying to the FBI. When Comey refused, he was fired. Seems like he's confessing to obstruction of justice, again.

President Trump did not write that tweet; his lawyer did. And by the way, it probably wasn't even Trump's voice on the Access Hollywood tape.

How do you determine what should be on there? Is it fair to put on the DOJ ending an investigation when you have no evidence of a quid pro quo?

Two news items that might have gone under due to the Flynn nothingburger:

Top FBI official assigned to Mueller’s Russia probe said to have been removed after sending anti-Trump texts

Washington Pest said:
The former top FBI official assigned to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election was taken off that job this summer after his bosses discovered he and another member of Mueller’s team had exchanged politically charged texts disparaging President Trump and supporting Hillary Clinton, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.

Peter Strzok, as deputy head of counterintelligence at the FBI, was a key player in the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server to do government work as secretary of state, as well as the probe into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election. [...]

Judicial Watch Releases 29 Pages of FBI Clinton-Lynch Tarmac Meeting Documents Previously Withheld by Justice Department

Judicial Watch said:
[...] “These new FBI documents show the FBI was more concerned about a whistleblower who told the truth about the infamous Clinton-Lynch tarmac meeting than the scandalous meeting itself,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “The documents show the FBI worked to make sure no more details of the meeting would be revealed to the American people. No wonder the FBI didn’t turn these documents over until Judicial Watch caught the agency red-handed hiding them. These new documents confirm the urgent need to reopen the Clinton email scandal and criminally investigate the resulting Obama FBI/DOJ sham investigation.”

As I said before, the Russagate Hoax-Boomerang is turning. Enjoy.

I have to laugh imagining the look on Dowd's face when he read Trump's tweet and realized what it meant. But, I'm sure he's getting paid well enough to try to take the blame away from his idiot client, but not many will believe that Dowd is really stupid enough to post a confession under his client's name.

It would be nice if you could produce some evidence that his feelings affected his decisions.

I thought we were supposed to believe that the Tweets were direct official correspondence from the president of the United States.
