Senator Al Franken Kissed and Groped Me Without My Consent, And There’s Nothing Funny

Wow. Most here would have absolutely no problem accepting any of these accounts if it was President Trump. Hypocrisy unbound.

To be fair, the allegations against Trump were a lot more plausible given that they came from Trump himself.

Yes, because human beings incorporate more than a single piece of information when making decisions about things. We all have varying probabilistic hurdles that must be cleared to determine what level of certitude we have about incidents we did not personally witness.

Franken has done tongue-in-cheek sexualized comedy gags and supports causes that are empowering to women.

Trump has been straight-up creepy in his remarks about women since the 80s.

Those observations also don't prove anything one way or the other, but they do contribute to an overall assessment and provisional inclination.

Not every instance of someone coming to two different conclusions based on one single similar point of data (an accusation was made) is hypocrisy.

Why even take provisional inclinations then?

From your link,

And I remember thinking -- is he going to move his hand? Was it an accident? Was he going to move his hand? He never moved his hand," she said.

"It was long enough that he should have known if it was an accident. I'm very confident saying that."

Excellent! Now we'll have photo of him actually groping someone. It seems his hand stayed there; she was in the act of being assaulted and recognised it as such. What a perfect opportunity to get a photo of said assault.

Kemplin said she moved her body before the photo was taken

Oh dear, how convenient.

Are we seeing a pattern evolving?

Yes. We are seeing a pattern of women empowered to confront sexual abuse on an unprecedented scale. We're also seeing a pattern of people defending abusers based primarily on their particular political leanings and affiliations.

Because otherwise we'd never get anything accomplished.

This is the sad state of affairs for those of us who are not perfect like you.

This is where the tapatalk signature that annoys people used to be

Were also seeing people use relevant known facts to modify a single similarity two different incidents might share.

We're also seeing people make accusations of partisan bias...which conveniently support their partisan bias.

Now, if you object to my loosely characterizing you as a hypocrite, would that be meta-hypocrisy?

Care to clarify that word salad?

What are you accomplishing by having a provisional inclination on Franken's actions?

There's a good example of how two people experience the same interaction differently: one is making sense, the other perceives it as word salad.

He/She might be making sense. But we're speaking in such vague generalities at this point, when there appear to be several specific examples to choose from, that I've lost track and can't comprehend where Im being hypocritical.

They do so, in this instance, exclusively uncorroborated.

Well that observation wouldn't stick regarding me, given that I'm not from America and I'd never heard of this guy until the uncorroborated accusation from Tweeden.

Care to declare your political leanings and affiliation, assuming you are from the US?

Sure.
Here in the South, I am considered very liberal by my peers. I have never voted for a republican in my life.

On this board, I like to think of myself as a moderate although it appears (to me) that the leftward shift of all things social is perhaps leaving me behind a little.

I see that.

Thank you, I thought that might be the case.

Can you go as far as to acknowledge that these accusation might just be poitically motivated?

They might all be totally made up.

They might be true and some (esp. the first one) also politically motivated (my guess).

I find the accounts quite plausible and consistent with the recent "outings" of others.
