Priti Patel: Should she be sacked?

I actually have a pet CT that Patel was put up to doing this as a way to circumvent Johnson.

Lets face it, the last thing you need is that incompetent nincompoop putting his massive foot in the powder keg of the middle east.

Unfrotunately, Patel got found out and the whole thing became unmanageble. After a quick clear of May's cache and a hard re-boot, Patel was eventually recalled. She'll be back though.

You've been reading that John Crace, haven't you? ;)

The politician is an entirely selfish species.

Much like the self gene, the politician cares about one thing and one thing only. And that is the attaining and retaining of power.

They do not for a moment suppose that what they are doing has any bearing on the country.

Suggesting to a politician that they are not doing the country any good would be like suggesting to a tapeworm that it is not doing its host any good. Both may be true, but neither has the biological ability to voluntarily remove itself from its position, regardless of the suffering they are causing.

Harsh words, but fair.

Another nail in this government's coffin. How they keep limping along is one question, but why they bother to keep limping along is the one that's really interesting. They must know they're a disaster for the country, but do they seriously suppose they're protecting the country from something even worse, i.e. a Corbyn-led government?

You are making a natural mistake - assuming there is some altruistic motive for them being in government. Keep the following in mind and their actions make total sense:

May wants to be PM, most of the cabinet think they should be PM.

Is that really how British people spell "Airplane"? No wonder you people can't field a baseball team.

Off-topic, but when at Boeing I worked with ex-pat Brit engineers who not only spelt it that way, but pronounced it like that as well, despite having been with the company in excess of 20 years.

Patel does not seem to appreciate that the Arabs regard Israel as an alien state on Arab lands. She ignores the force of Arab nationalism. I don't want to drive Israel into the sea. I was under the impression Arafat eventually recognized Israel's right to exist. Netanyahu just seems to want Israeli expansion, and ignoring any two state solution, and ejectment orders for Palestinians, and endless negotiations, and war with Iran, and accusing anybody who does not have unquestioning support for Israel as being anti-Semitic.
Right now there are no negotiations because Abbas wants to do absolutely anything for independence except talk to Israel and make peace. The last serious negotiations between them was back when Arafat was still alive.

Just because you dumbed down the language, doesn't mean we have to, although I doubt even US universities study "airnautics."

I will be sure to stop by Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven to report to Noah Webster that you called him dumb.

The simplification and standardization of english spelling was the greatest gift America had given the world until Sarah Michelle Gellar.

It went: representative democracy, Webster's dictionary, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Forged In Fire.

Webster was long dead before the first aeroplane flew, so dumbing the word down to "airplane" obviously wasn't on his watch.

And, please, don't claim simplification when you lot insist on calling an "anaesthetist" an "anesthesiologist," nor indeed eschewing "obliged" for "obligated."

I don't think that's entirely fair. There's also self enrichment, expenses, and ensuring that a nice cushy non-exec/consultancy (or entirely impartial editorship of the Evening Standard) is waiting when they've had their fill of 'public service'.

But we'll give you Sarah Michelle Gellar. :D

That might be plausible if they didn't keep borrowing Labour policies, albeit in a grudging half-assed manner.

Burglarized. (Burgled.) Donator. (Donor.) I even saw "euthanization" the other day.

Glass houses and all that.

Penny Mordaunt is the new Minister. Chosen because she is a prominent campaigning Brexiteer. It's important to keep the Brexit Balance in the Cabinet above all else.
