OMG, people pay journalists for information ? The Horror !!!

That's the real story here, not the Trump campaigns continual lies about contact with Russia and attempts to obstruct Justice

Don't you see, people ? JOURNALISTS ARE BEING PAID ! OMG!!!!

I'm sorry, printing material for a fee is not journalism, it's advertising.

They should not be able to claim source confidentiality if cash changed hands.

There is not one bit of taking money to push a story (especially one that will have a significant impact on public opinion ahead of a major election) that squares well with journalistic ethics. "You don't pick the story" very much includes a warning against preference for printing what fattens your bank account.

I was impressed as anyone could be at BuzzFeed, at one time among the most offensive of click-baiters, actually put out a good deal of respectable political journalism through the primaries and most of the general and then they drop the entire document without no curation and minimal vetting.

Well, I guess you can only expect so much change in such a short amount of time...

If no money changed hands, then it's just them continuing to be an immature outlet, ok. If money did change hands, then there's no "freedom of the press" shield, that's a business transaction and it's 100% allowed for the government to subpoena the records of the exchange and depose those involved.

I'm a huge advocate for an independent press. At the same time, I'll have no bought-and-paid-for hit pieces being paraded around as journalism, thank you very much.

CIA DIRECTOR MET ADVOCATE OF DISPUTED DNC HACK THEORY — AT TRUMP’S REQUEST

That's Duncan Campbell and James Risen writing at The Intercept. And the "advocate" is none other than high-ranking ex-NSA whistleblower and member of Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity William Binney. To talk about the Forensicator findings we discussed at length here. I wasn't aware that a group of dissenters inside VIPS didn't sign their memo but came up with a counter-memo. Make sure to read the forum about this at The Nation if you make it that far into the The Intercept piece, which is a bit whiny in tone. Can't say that Pierre Omidyar's outlet has shined recently, but still good it's there.

Did you read the dissenting memo and the independent review in The Nation? Just as I said when you first posted the Forensicator stuff, there is no evidence that the files were copied directly from the DNC server rather than from an intermediary computer, and without that, the "leak" theory is unsupported speculation. (ETA: And according to the independent review, it turns out the "impossible speed" claim isn't true, either.)

Why do you think I've linked to it? Exactly, to prevent people from sloppily relying on framing by the Intercept authors or even the likes of you.

I have complained for years about strengthening law enforcement in the name of law and order while weakening the fourth amendment in the name of patriotism. I have little doubt Mueller's investigation passes legal muster because muster is so low.

I take a little glee that the apparatus that has terrified millions of Americans is now pointed at the people who supported it and they are freaking out.

What to expect from Trump's meeting with THE DEVIL later this week? Informative take at Al Monitor.

From your link:

Earlier, speaking at the Conference of the Russian-American Science Association in Chicago, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said the agenda for the meeting between the presidents is likely to focus on three major topics: the "war on international terrorism, prospects for the peace settlement in Syria and the North Korea nuclear problem.”

Yes, I very much believe the Russians would like to focus on anything but that elephant over in the corner of the room.

ETA: But not to worry, Trump will ignore it too.

Why should they focus on the elephant in this little echo chamber (which is, deal with it, sore losers trying to hoax a conspiracy to prevent her Annointedness from becoming president with the help of the media and parts of the "intelligence" agencies)? That's solely for the domestic audience. These are adults trying to tackle real life problems.

He Solved The DNC Hack. Now He's Telling His Story For The First Time.
Less than a year before Marine Corps cyberwarrior Robert Johnston discovered that the Russians had hacked the Democratic National Committee, he found they had launched a similar attack at the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Did you really just call trump and putin the adults in the room ?

Did you just call someone else a conspiracy theorist?

Putin sets the agenda for the upcoming meeting. Most revolting perhaps that he mentions Yankistan not a single time.

OH NO NOT HIM AGAIN said:
[...] Of course, the large-scale project to create the APEC free trade area should be carried out with due account of the experience gained from implementing key integration formats in the Asia-Pacific region and Eurasia, including the Eurasian Economic Union, in which Russia cooperates with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Our union has been developing dynamically, and we are eager to build relations with all countries and associations that are interested in doing so. Vietnam, the host of this year’s Forum, was the first state to sign a free trade agreement with the EAEU. As a result, our trade grew significantly and became more diversified. Talks on a trade and economic cooperation agreement with China concluded a short while ago. Talks with Singapore have begun, and we are working on the possibility of signing a free trade agreement with ASEAN.

On a related note, I would like to mention our idea to create the Greater Eurasian Partnership. We suggested forming it on the basis of the Eurasian Economic Union and China’s Belt and Road initiative. To reiterate, this is a flexible modern project open to other participants.

Comprehensive development of infrastructure, including transport, telecommunications and energy, will serve as the basis for effective integration. Today Russia is actively modernising its sea and air ports in the Russian Far East, developing transcontinental rail routes, and building new gas and oil pipelines. We are committed to implementing bilateral and multilateral infrastructure projects which will link our economies and markets. Among other projects, I am referring to the Energy Super Ring that unites Russia, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, and the Sakhalin-Hokkaido transport link. [...]

Comedy gold. One of Putin's real life problems is that the sanctions are cutting into his mob's business activities, i.e. converting Russia's vast natural resources into vast private wealth. One of Trump's real life problems is that a lot of people are really curious about why Russia was aiding Trump's election, and why so many of his people lied about so many contacts with Russians, and oh yes, why he's so anxious to get rid of the sanctions. Trump's real life problems appear to be about to tackle him.
