Cont: The Trump Presidency Part III

Roger Stone, President Donald Trump's longetime associate, said "the battle against free speech has just begun" as the longtime political provocateur tangles with Twitter over his account's suspension.

"This is a strange way to do business and part and parcel of the systematic effort by the tech left to censor and silence conservative voices," Stone said in an email to POLITICO. "

Stone added that after communicating with "prominent telecommunication attorneys," he has decided to bring legal action against Twitter. It's not clear what the basis for that action would be.

Stone lashed out at CNN anchor Don Lemon and others on Friday night, seemingly responding to reports that an indictment from special prosecutor Robert Mueller was imminent in the ongoing probe into the Trump election campaign's alleged ties to Russia.

Stone tweeted that Lemon was "dumber than dog ----" and deserved to be mocked and punished.

Keep crying like a little bitch about the injustice of being punished for breaking rules and laws. Take your beating with a little bit of dignity, if you have any dignity left that is.

I can't be the only one that's noticed that the American far-right has become increasingly unhinged the last couple of days since it was revealed that Mueller's grand jury has filed charges. I've seen increasing calls from people to lock up Hillary Clinton or even kill her.

The only noose that's tightening is the one around Trump and his associates.

Although if Sessions starts enforcing federal marijuana laws, which he would love to do, Trump's support might drop like a rock. It's a bipartisan issue: Boomers want their weed. And young people too. Liberal/conservative doesn't matter. Use is becoming normalized, at least in a few states, and people are beginning to like it that way. Any challenge/assault on that is going to raise hackles.

Of the states where marijuana has been legalized for recreational use, only Alaska voted for Trump.

Note that the map and text of the former link are inconsistent. The text says seven states + DC have legalized recreational use, but eight states are shown on the map.

Wouldn't it be better to look at the states that have legalized medical marijuana as well? It's not like Sessions is going to treat those states any differently in race to return judicial system to the 50's.

He also exploited years of the Republican party complaining the system was broken and Washington was incapable of getting things done and then being utterly taken by surprise by the fact that the voters believed them and went for a populist outsider.
And then the big surpise: populist outsider is so unfocused that he can’t hget things done either.

Actually, the tax bill will pass, the economy gets one more quarter of 3% growth merely out of the new confidence in ”business”. Then things go badly downhill 3 years. Populist is left with few choices in sinking ship of Trump presidency.

I suppose you're right about what Sessions will do, but even if the majority of the public thinks medical marijuana ought to be legal, it isn't a deciding factor for many of them, I'd guess. Obviously, those who depend on medical marijuana and their loved ones will feel passionately, and so will activists (who are unlikely to have voted Trump), but otherwise I doubt that Sessions cracking down on medical marijuana will really swing many Trump voters.

There's so much wrong with Trump that I just can't see that as the most important issue.

After watching “Get Me Roger Stone” - again, highly recommended...

Either...

His obscenity-laced Tweets were intentionally designed to get him suspended/banned for some higher 3-dimensional Chess strategy, or...

...he’s suffering some sort of breakdown.

My money is heavily on the former.

Done. Same terms as the bet with Oystein.

BTW, I'm willing to grant you an escape clause: If Trump pardons anyone, we won't know if the conviction would have been overturned on appeal (for your presumed reason or any other), so the bet does not apply to those cases.

Same. I think Stone is at least intelligent enough to come up with and execute a simple distraction like that.

More likely, Stone was just completely pissed off and didn't think hurling obscenities at public figures would get him suspended (it has never gotten Keith Olbermann suspended, for example).

And let's face it. Stone is pretty much right about Don Lemon, Ana Navarro, and Anderson Cooper. All three are unprofessional, to say the least.

And that CT paranoia is being stoked by the POTUS. That's a new twist to these CTs we've not yet seen (until Trump anyway).

Putting together the social media echo chamber, the fact Russian bots are more likely than not still stoking the fire, Trump and his minions pouring gasoline on that fire in an attempt to distract from the collusion and other potential charges... then there is the news media which can't help itself selling Clinton scandals, they continue to make hay over this oooo big coverup of who paid Steele .

How do you ever dial these CT beliefs back if they truly get adopted by a 30% of the population base?

On Sunday morning, President Trump expressed frustration that his campaign is under investigation over possible ties to Russia's plot to influence the 2016 election but that his former opponent Hillary Clinton is not facing the same level of scrutiny.

In four tweets sent over 24 minutes, Trump wrote: “Never seen such Republican ANGER & UNITY as I have concerning the lack of investigation on Clinton made Fake Dossier (now $12,000,000?), the Uranium to Russia deal, the 33,000 plus deleted Emails, the Comey fix and so much more. Instead they look at phony Trump/Russia, 'collusion,' which doesn't exist. The Dems are using this terrible (and bad for our country) Witch Hunt for evil politics, but the R's are now fighting back like never before. There is so much GUILT by Democrats/Clinton, and now the facts are pouring out. DO SOMETHING!”

The tweets came as CNN has continued to report that on Friday a federal grand jury in Washington approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert S. Mueller III, citing “sources briefed on the matter.” The charges are sealed, and it's unclear who could be charged and for what.

Trump is raging on twitter again. What does he expect the Republicans to do beyond opening another politically motivated congressional investigation?

If he wants the FBI, some other federal law enforcement agency or the Attorney General to investigate Clinton he should order them to do so, even if it's quite possible they would simply refuse his orders and resign rather than carrying them out.

You are the President now Donald so why don't you do something about your problems you lazy bum.

Pfft....

If trump pardons someone it'll be "proof that nobody did anything wrong, stupid libs"

How so? Besides being honest which I know is not a good thing for those people.

He is a populist whose agenda appealed to working classes and the money bags crowd. What he intended to do is another matter. I think it just took a little confidence, a lot of $, twitter and a small vocabulary to do the hat in the ring part. Plus enormous ego. No skill was needed. The electoral college did the rest.

Fake populist!

...but seriously, all that jabber stood for nothing, because he simply had no idea what he was talking about in the first place. The guy ran on empty promises and a healthy dose of white supremacism, and now we're seeing the end result. Advisors who would fit in with the white people in Django Unchained, a president that rages when judges block his plainly unconstitutional EOs and gets bored and flounces when legislation that should take years isn't passed within a couple of weeks, and a strong stench of corruption and crime. this is basically what Toupee Fiasco has always been, so no shock that he's the exact same way as President of the US as he was during the previous few decades.
