Cont: The Trump Presidency Part III

Slandering Dufus says the increase in stock prices of insurance companies under Obamacare made them rich. Apart from executive pay related to the stock price, an individual and not a company benefit, the industry is not necessarily richer, only the investors, who are largely outsiders. True, new stock issues benefit any company, but somehow I don't think Trump was referring to that. Further, of course stock prices rise under the perspective of increased sales, as in any industry. No shenanigans on display here, except standard GOP car-key jingling, now used by a demagogue.

In spite of the recent speeches by Bush and McCain, it seems only around 1/3 of what remains of the GOP has any tether to reality.

I was reading this article about it this morning. I don't know a ton about military issues, but it doesn't seem inherently bizarre that those of us in the general public wouldn't be told every detail about intelligence/special forces types of operations. The relevant Congressional Committees should be told a lot more, though. And they should launch a proper investigation if what they're told doesn't pass the smell test.

Listening to NPR, "they" were talking about something called the "Golden Hour".

That if troops go out into the field for whatever, said troops should be no more than an hour away from pick-up by helicopter (or possibly an Osprey)

In 2009, then U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates ordered evacuation helicopters to extract wounded U.S. military personnel within 60 minutes, which would become known as the Golden Hour Policy. This made it the mission of all evacuation choppers to make it to wounded personnel within the first hour: which they did

If Republicans want to investigate one of their own, the Golden Hour violation might be the place to start.

I must have been thinking of the dossier, because for whatever reason I read that as 'the Golden Shower' on firts pass. :o

Speaking of things Russian:

There is film soon opening called "The Death Of Stalin" which is a black Dr Strangelove style comedy about the power struggle after Uncle Joe kicked the bucket.

The Russian Government is not happy:

In September 2017, a high-ranking official in the Russian Ministry of Culture said the Russian authorities were considering a ban on the film, which, he alleged, could be part of a "western plot to destabilise Russia by causing rifts in society"

God, the irony of that last bit. I could almost wish it was true so I could say "Payback is a bitch, ain't it?".

You mean the dossier that the FBI was paid to create and was asked to create by Hillary and probably Soros?

Yeah, that tweet had me laughing this morning. Everythime I think he can't possibly be any more...something...he is. This is like a never-ending, slow-motion trainwreck.

Kelly just tried to defend Trump's call but really only effectively confirmed that the congresswoman didn't lie about the contents of the call and more than likely Trumps nonchalant tone as well.

“I was stunned when I came to work yesterday morning and brokenhearted at what I saw a member of Congress doing,” Kelly told reporters at Thursday’s White House press briefing. “A member of Congress who listened in on a phone call from the president of the United States to a young wife — and in his way tried to express that opinion that he’s a brave man, a fallen hero.”

“He knew what he was getting himself into because he enlisted,” Kelly continued, referring to slain Sgt. La David Johnson. “There’s no reason to enlist. He enlisted, and he was where he wanted to be, exactly where he wanted to be with exactly the people he wanted to be with when his life was taken. That was the message.”

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.), who had a personal relationship with Johnson through her program for disadvantaged black boys in Miami, recounted to reporters this week that Trump told Johnson’s widow in a condolence call that he knew what he signed up for, a remark she framed as an insensitive comment the commander in chief lobbed at a grieving widow.

So he's not really denying that Trump came off as being disrespectful and callous. He's not showing any proof either that Trump alleged he had (witness testimony isn't proof mind you) or that the congresswoman "totally fabricated" the contents of the call.

It's an Armando Ianucci film. It's almost certain to be.

Huge fan of his TV series "The Veep" so that comes as no surprise.
BTW if you go down far enough into the Twitter campaign there is a nasty swipe at Theresa May....

well, we know that Republicans paid for it to help in their primary.
That is a fact.
Trumpers are pointing out the dossier was initially commissioned by the DNC (which it was) because that is the only evidence they have to counter it. Everything in the dossier except maybe the golden showers blackmail has been substantiated to some degree.

I just watched a portion of Kelly’s statement on the evening news.

I thought it was sincere and heartfelt. Principle of Charity and all that.
